Wiring bellows tubing
Those spots look good. I used this beast and it was tough (was wondering why I didn't use a step drill π) I did paint the bare metal in the holes. . Here is a picture of the motor installed This is a Spal heavy duty unit (not sure if these are still available) Been working great. Important that the window works smoothly first !

Wiring bellows tubing
First picture looking done from top Second picture door side Thrid picture body side The boot was a straight section about 6" long. They came from Dave many years ago. The boots have been installed for 5 or 6 years, but only used heavily for this past summer. All seems good! I have power windows and power lock wires running through them.

Wiring bellows tubing
Seppi I have done this project. I will post some pictures tomorrow. I followed a theard by Dave Irwin (zsonthebrain)? My car is a "72" I removed the doors to drill the holes. If you can find his thread he shows where to drill. Dave provided me with the rubber boots. Steve

Suspension
(kind of like the consistency of a dried-out hot-dog bun) That is exactly what I have. Thanks for the input.....now to get some bump stops.

Suspension
The picture in my first post is the spring side of part #6 in Zed's post. @Patcon This is the rear strut, The front looks the same. The bearing at front and the spacer at back are there and in good shape. The insulators are also in good shape. But if there were bump stops, mine have perished and are missing in actionπ So my question is were there bump stops? Assuming there were what are the recomendations for replacements?

Suspension
@Yarb I just cound't tell if was sand or rubber like.....maybe more sand. This came from under the top spring perch not above like the spacer and insulator. I was thinking more along the lines of a bump stop? Was there Bump stops? Thanks for the input.

Installing new shocks in my "72" (KYB) and am wondering what this is that came out of the top spring perch? See picture. Was this just caked in dirt or remants of something else? Thanks!

Transmission Swap and other things
I did not. Was going to wait and see if there was going to be a problem with the heat.

Transmission Swap and other things
Sorry for the delay. The transmission is in, without to much drama. Installed my new Z Story exhaust (Street Sport Header) That went well. Thanks for the tips from @Patcon But now to the what was I thinking catagoryβΉοΈ Went to install my heat shield and it is not going to clear the new header. Should of new that from the start. So what are my options? No heat shield? If so what do you attach the return spprings to? Does anyone make a shield that will work? (running SU's) Any ideas would be welcomed. Patcon are you going to run SU's? If so do you have a plan? Thanks for the help. Stee

Quick update and a question. The R/T mount is in...Yea! More on that later. The bread worked for getting the pilot bushing out Was worried at first, it took alot of pounding before the bushing started to move but once started it came out easily. (maybe a nice sour dough would of worked better)π Also got the rear main seal out and it is thicker than the replacement (see picture). The new one is from Nissan, just wondering if this is an issue or not? Or if this is normal with the new seals? Thanks! Steve

Transmission Swap and other things
While waiting for some parts and supplies I thought I would install the R/T mount I bought a decade agoπ . For the life of me I can not figure out how to get that done. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks Steve

Transmission Swap and other things
Transmission is out YEA! All went well not to much drama. Clutch and flywheel are also out. Still need to get the pilot bushing out, will try the bread trick. New bushing does slide onto the five speed main shaft. The four speed has a neutral switch the five speed does not wondering what I have to do with the wires @SteveJ if anything. Next step is finsh getting the five speed ready to install. (seals, front cover gasket, reverse switch, speedo gear, clutch fork, sleeve, bearing) 12mm offset wrench worked great for the propeller shaft nuts. completly slides over the nuts with full engagement. No interference with the diff cross member.

Transmission Swap and other things
Yes I mixed the two threads. I am with you on keeping Sean's header looking good. Do you have a picture of the 510 header?
-
Transmission Swap and other things
I will probaly just wait untill I take the 4 speed out and get a measurement. I thought that I read in your thread that you did get your header coated. If your going without maybe I will also, can you get them coated after they been run?

Transmission Swap and other things
Zed Thanks for the video Part of this project is installing a Z Story exhaust - headers to muffler. My question is should I have the headers ceramic coated? opinions? Thanks

Transmission Swap and other things
Yes am planning on making the guide bolts. Any idea on how long they should be? I was messaging with @HusseinHolland and he had them ranging from 3 1/4" to 5" long but wasn't sure which ones he used.

Transmission Swap and other things
Yarb Thanks for the input. Not the close ratio one? Really just looking for a fifth gear for highway cruising. I hope I like it. The main shaft seems solid and there were no big chunks on the drain plug. Everything turns smoothly and it shifts into all the gears. The 5 speed had the spring/lip facing the transmission. Will check the one on my 4 speed before I install the new one just to be sure. (for sure never touched) Are you talking about a puller for the pilot bushing?
-
Transmission Swap and other things
Not a stupid question.....made me go and check it out. Yes it will go high enoughπ

Transmission Swap and other things
Zed Went ahead and ordered the Hylomar Blue Delivery Feb. 26th to March 16th Hope they are just messing with me. Was jusst going to stack some wood under the oil pan or does the engine need to drop a bit to slide the transmission off? Remind me how the bread trick works Thanks for your help! Steve
