  1. Happy Thanksgiving back, nice fall pic. All that's missing is the turkey.... I can almost smell it roasting on the BBQ. :lick: Mike
  2. I have a set of those louvers as well, sorry I don't have a spare key but I made a quick drawing of mine if it helps. Mike (oops the blank looking file is a 3d pdf of the model that I attached by accident) Interpart Key - 3D PDF.pdf Interpart Key.pdf
  3. Great news, I'm looking forward to seeing some pics during the assembly process. Mike
  4. Good news, however I should not take the credit for this. I was doing a search a few days ago and found that Chas had already found this source last year, see post #2 here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/suspension-steering-s30/49584-steering-rack-u-joint-fix.html On behalf of the group, thanks Chas:) Mike
  5. It might also be familiar from this: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/open-s30-z-discussions/53131-71-garage-find.html Mike
  6. Valve adjust? I don't remember the exact spec. Mike
  7. I think both are available, they show a separate part number for each.
  8. I just did quick google search for "small u-joint" and found this at The U-Joint Store, it's a 15mm x 40mm steering u-joint for Dodge, Chevrolet , Jeep and Ford application: Steering ujoint for Dodge, Chevrolet , Jeep and Ford (15mmx40mm) I don't know if the size is referring to the cap OD but maybe we will be lucky.
  9. I was just looking up this part the other day on my parts CD, as mine is cracked, and I can confirm what Jim said. There is only one splash guard, on the RH side, and it is called "Protector - Filler Hose".
  10. Local Motors has produced the first drivable 3D printed car in 44 hours. Actually only the body was printed and assembly is not included in the 44 hours, but still impressive. Local Motors Takes Their Single-Print 3D Printed Car for a Test Drive - SolidSmack
  11. Nice comparison Jay, and it's nice that this seal works for all zeds up to 09/73.
  12. Here's a good read on Mr. K's birthday. NISSAN LEGENDS | NISSAN | HERITAGE
  13. Are you referring to the banjo fitting bolts on the transmission cooler lines? Here is a link to a parts list and diagram: Datsun 240Z/260Z/280Z Transmission Case & Fitting (Automatic-3N71B) (From Apr.-'71) Also possibly refer to the FSM, here's a link for that as well in case you don't have one: XenonS30 I'm not sure if you will find a torque spec in the FSM, make sure the washer like gaskets are in good condition as well. HTH Mike
  14. Sorry to hear about the delay, stay positive. I'm sure the end result will be worth all the frustration, and only add to the story of your build. Hopefully in a year or two I will be able to share similar anecdotes of my own build. Cheers Mike
  15. Thanks for sharing that, I will be watching for that episode. Mike
  16. Interpreting a drawing depends on your point of view... Source: M.C. Escher ? Life and Work Mike
  17. It looks to me that this is one of those cases where the parts microfiche is incorrect. For the 240Z rack assembly it shows both the bearing (item 10) and the bushing (item 3) on the lower side of the pinion.
  18. You're welcome, here is a link crossing over Timken Bearings as well. I didn't find the pinion bearing here but may be use full for others, Timken is mainly know for tapered roller bearings. Maybe SKF or others may publish a cross over list as well. http://www.timken.com/en-us/products/Documents/Timken_Bearing_Cross_Reference_Guide.pdf
  19. Jay, I found a Timken crossover part number for the oil seal you might be able to look for, Nissan 48125-78500 SEAL-OIL crosses to Timken 221735. See this link for the info on page 149: http://www.timken.com/en-us/products/Documents/Timken_Seal_Interchange_and_Cross_Reference_Guide.pdf Timken is the parent for National Industrial Seals, and are best sourced from any industrial bearing house, like Kaman Industrial Technologies. HTH Mike While looking for seal specs I found this source: National 221735 - Oil Seal | O'Reilly Auto Parts
  20. Thanks, I can't take credit for the design as a PO "engineered" them. I will soon be removing and repurposing them........ Mike

  22. I also thought the brackets on your car were very stock looking, especially compared to the obvious add on ones on my car. This was just a question out of curiosity, as I have not seen brackets like yours before.
  23. I noticed that there are two brackets, outside of the horns, on your lower rad support. Did a PO add these for fog lights? I ask because a PO of my car must have added these strange brackets to mine which I can only guess were used to hang lights from, they look like they are shelf brackets from a hardware store. I do plan to remove them. Mike
  24. From my parts fiche CD the best I can read is P/N 48126-78500 for the pinion bushing, for up to 07/73 and P/N 48018-E8700 for the pinion bearing, from 08/71 to 07/73.
  25. Are you positive that the rack is the problem, is there any play in the u-joint at the rack end of your lower steering rod? Even a small amount of play in that u-joint can add significant play in your steering. I replaced my lower steering rod c/w u-joint with good used parts and it made a huge difference. Mike
