great find! keep up your work on it; it's good to see you have a good car to start off with.
  5. well jlp, my 72 is pewter w/ red int (soon to be back to her original white ext). she has been around the block several thousand times, and i am hoping to get her back to a semi-decent state. i'm not going to fully restore her: there is way too much rust for that. instead i am choosing to turn her into a vintage racer (soon as i get another car)
  6. ^ thanks bruce, i will be sure to! i wonder if i have 38mm carbs?
  7. i'll get ya some pics.... starting here: sourced from http://zhome.com/History/432Z2.htm a model: sourced from http://www.toyeast.net/era/proddetail2.asp?pdtid=AC1825
  8. yes, i have free floaters..... too bad about dem grose jets. i shoulda swiped them up when i had the chance... oh well.
  9. well i fixed it. just took apart the float chamber and jiggled the jet... also, does anyone else have metal floats??
  10. glad to hear you got it fixed!
  11. welcome jlp! awesome background you have there....
  12. haha.... ya, i think i'm going to invent something now...
  13. aww man! are they still installed in the ZT carbs?
  14. i have a spare (but kinda mushy) t/s switch that works fine. $15 plus shipping... also, check to make sure that all of your connectors are plugged into the right sockets...
  15. it's a good idea with a good principle, but not worth $70
  16. *EDIT* don't worry bruce, i'm going to be getting your carbs in the future... also, can i get the grose jets from you guys?
  17. thanks for the feedback guys... that's what i figured, so i guess i know what i'm doing tomorrow!
  18. well, my rear SU died today on the way to work. i'm driving, then all of a sudden the car starts shuddering and dies. i think it's out of gas (since it's on E) and so i get a gas can and fill it. get the car running (rough) and pop the hood. tada! gas is pouring out of my rear air cleaner and the float bowl of the carb... great.... anyway, i'm planning on getting the ztherapy carbs, but do you think it would be worth it to check some other options (rebuild my own carbs, get rebuilt ones from a local source)? i'm kind of strapped for cash (very), that's the reason i ask. anyway, i'm leaning towards the ZT carbs since i'm going to end up getting them anyway, but it looks like i won't be doing anything else to my car for a while if i do....
  19. welcome! great car! sorry, i'd write more but i was distracted by all these posts....
  20. ah, never free of controversy, are we? haha, anyway, i can never get enought 2000gt... one of the few cars that (dare i say?) i would rather have as opposed to me z.....well, better yet, in addition to!
  21. i wanna see more 2000gts too!!!!!!
  22. oohhh.... a full carb recondition sounds in order.... you might also want to check your banjo filters to see if they are clogged up..
  23. the 2000gt design is very similar, and yes, yamaha had been working on the engine with nissan first before nissan dumped the project. it was then that they teamed up with toyota and made the 2000gt. anyway, the 2000gt os one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and because it has such a close relationship with the Z (cousins even?) i think this is definitely on topic.
  24. ^^i know what you mean v12horse. i have red interior (the seats have been replaced with black by a PO) and i think it looks great. i'm going to reupholster the seats in red just to make it that much better! and yes, when i first got the car i was contemplating black interior. i changed my mind, though...
  25. an investment in ztherapy's video(s) might not hurt either.
