Hard to shift, gear clash...
It would be "not disengaging from the flywheel" if the car creeps forward, which indeed could cause the grinding. (I know, I know, when clutch is "engaged", the flywheel is "disengaged") Could be caused by either, or both hydraulic cylinders not functioning properly. Low fluid levels, or could also be the hole in the clutch pedal arm where the clutch m/c connects is ovalled and thus pedal movement is wasted taking up the slack there instead of moving fluid to fully operate the m/c and slave cylinder.

Hard to shift, gear clash...
Installer would have to be real Stoopid to istall T.O. bearing backwards. It's real obvious which way it goes. T.O. bearing is the same for all 1970 thru 1989 Z cars If it is worse when the box is cold, it may be that synchos are going and someone put in thicker oil to quiet it down for a while.

What were they thinking?
The most depressing part of this (to me at least) is that none of these people (or their lawyers) made it to the finals of the Darwin Awards.

Yet another Panasport question
Rubbing issues will depend on width of rim and backspace. As for ride quality, for a given fixed circumferance of tire wheel combo, you'll obviously lose an inch of (flexible) tire sidewall with 16" wheels while gaining an inch of (inflexible) wheel. Will it make a difference? Yes, but only you can say if it will be too much for you. FWIW, I would go with 15" wheels unless it was a track only race car, but that's just my opinion. I like a bit of comfort, especially for longer cruises. Some people buy 17" wheels for Z's so................?

Ah, I didn't know they used A series engines. Wonder why they switched to that engine?

couple of carb questions
Michael: If you are thiking of using Z car SU's in the B210, you might find a lot of info on how/What to do from the DimeQuarterly (Datsun 510) email list folks. Doesn't it use the same 4 cyl engine? I don't have the info on how to hook up with them, but Victor Laury probably does.

couple of carb questions
AFAIK, Yes, that's all it does (except to also provide a port for vacuum needed for your brake booster No. Unbalanced breathing of cylinders?(front 3 cyls v.s. rear 3 cyls) No port for vaccum to the brake booster. Cooler air/fuel mixture = more dense charge to cylinder, more air and fuel = more potential for power (if the charge gets fully burned) The heat was/is only applied when the engine is cold. After about 80 degrees water temp (temp spec according to 2ManyZ's) the water flow is cut off by the valve at the back of the manifold. Heat applied to a fully warm engine would likely result in fuel vaporization in the carbs. This feature is generally not needed unless you face ice and snow weather. It has been routinely eliminated by people seeking optimim performance since the mid 1970's. (original "How to Modify Dasun Engines and Chassis" published in 1973)

Exactly my point. You claimed to have been around for some time as a visitor. The only one keeping you from registering before yesterday was YOU. If you like the thread why don't you do as others have suggested and partisipate in the discussion. Contribute SOMETHING.

Republican or Democrats
When you do. If you recall, this thread had fallen off the Home page when you saw fit to citicize our discussion. If you don't like this thread, be mannerly and leave it to those who do. If this thread doesn't interest you, there are thousands of others for you to view that might be more to your liking. I don't think you were promised that everything would suit you. If you have been a visitor, you have had a chance to post previously, you just chose not to register until yesterday. The "fact" that you have chosen to register now, and only post to this thread in a confrontational manner says much about your agenda. FWIW, most people who don't own a Z and show up here, do so for the opportunity to learn about Z's (or at least do something related to Z's) they don't just jump into one of the few Non-Z threads and criticize the people posting in it. Pompously yours,

Removing old brake hoses
I was going by what happened to me at a Pick N Pull last month when I tried to do what you mentioned. You won't (I couldn't) be able to get the coupling out of the mounting ear which made working on it more difficult, and even before I twisted the line, I wished I had not tried this method. Your mileage may vary. http://www.inlinetube.com/ http://www.classictube.com/ Either one of these places should be able to recreate a line using your old one as a pattern. Also, if you have a tubing bender and can find a generic brake line of similar length, you could try to make one yourself.

The fact that every one of your posts is to non-Z threads, that suddenly you "appeared" yesterday with the "instigator" (which says a lot about you)name, and that you immediately lept into the thread with the arrogant attitude you continue to display. It's not like you arrived with an interest in Z's, or being part of the membership who respect each other even though we may disagree on world issues. Manners? Why should you be treated with manners? Your first post to this thread was rude and unmannerly to those of us who chose to post to this thread. Your tone hasn't changed since then. You reap what you sow. As for the spelling error, WHO CARES WHAT YOU IMMORTALIZE? If it's a big deal to you, hang on to it. Petty things matter to petty people.

Removing old brake hoses
You would still be unscrewing the same threads in the same fitting. All I can see it doing is (MAYBE) "slightly" minimizing the chance of rounding the flats on the flare nut. Instead, you'd twist the line into a pretzel. I don't see this being of much benefit. Heat, Kroil (or PB Blaster), and a good flare-nut wrench (or small vice-grips used carefully) will be of most use to you.

Every death on either side of the war is one of the "too many" as far as I am concerned. BUT, I must point out that there is quite a bit of discussiion as to the validity of the figure published by that formerly respected journal "The Lancet". http://www.iraqbodycount.net/press/

Playful? I doubt anyone believes that B.S. Covering up my tracks? For a spelling error. Ha! The quote in your post still shows the error, I put "work" in quotes in my response also, get a grip on yourself. Foolio.

My Intro
The one bullet hole I've seen in a car ( a Drug Dealer's late 80's Rustang, come to think of it, he was "late" also ) looked alot bigger than it was because the paint was gone around the hole (1/4" around the hole maybe)

Welcome Robert. I think Vicky was referring to the marked area on the door, not the quarter panel emblem area. Maybe it is a "Bird Bomb"?
