  1. In de States… imported!… yeah… but the 260z was MADE till 1978! In europe we did NOT have the 280z it was the 260z .. 1979 came out the 280zx.. and the production of 260z came at an end. Here some pic's from a beautiful 1979 euro 260Z (It was a probably a 1978 car made and was put on the road in 1979.)
  2. Nope... N42 in my euro 280zx from early 1979.. ('79 was it's first year in the Netherlands! ) was already a self oiling cam..
  3. That depends.. In europe for example we have no exhaust port liners… therefore these heads can be better. personaly i think there is not much if any diff. in the N42 and N47. I've got a N42 on my 280zx and it has a compr. of 10.1 to 1 standard. it runs very well.
  4. Could it be because you have isolated the coil from ground with that paper/cardboard in between the coil and it's holder? if the black wire is a bad ground.... And.. What brand do those wires smoke? ... sorry i could also not help myself.... ?
  5. The painter is still busy.. meanwile i have a question, is there somebody that has a good set of dash meters, i'm refering to the 3 -meterset in the middle of the dash.. with the analog clock. shoot me a pm if you have one for sale with a pic and price, and condition it's in.. Thanks! (It's for a 1979 280zx )
  6. And it's probably their last one! UGLY !!!
  7. The few bushings i need are in my cellar! my suspension bushings are (see Pic's above.. ) in good condition, also are the new suspension arm bushings..
  8. Here some pic's from the "old" suspension-arm, it clearly did not have any anti-rust treatment.
  9. I wouldn't bet... Thanks for the reply, but don't bother, if the old brakedisk does not fit , it's simple, i have to get me a new set!
  10. I've got a question.. here in europe a 280zx has 2 different types of brakepads and cylinders in the rear, one till 1980-81.. and one after... round that time.. i had a bad rear wheel suspension arm so had to get me a good one, the brakecylinder mount is different so i had to have those aswell!! my question is there difference in brakerotor over the years on the rear of a 280zx? much apriciated! I've got a as new set arms and brakeparts now from the latest type 280zx eurostyle.. (1982-83)
  11. Hahaha... yeah... but i drove one and... i could only turn right.. not left.. my knee was in the way! ... i'm 6 foot 4 (around 1.93 mtr..) i don't fit in that basket!!
  12. @Captain Obvious I have the same one in my 240z.. were can i get or see the better one? With my last service (valve clearance check) these tubes were OK. Should i replace it? (When i'm ready with my 280zx this 240z get a restauration or is sold i'm still not shure what it will be..)
  13. The oil ring has a play of 0.3 till 0.9 mm maybe he mixed up top with oilring ring gap...
  14. yeap... and 0.219 can never be the average of 0.249- 0.332 0.29 is more in the range.. also the point on the wrong spot hey...
  15. Yes, can be in de States..don't forget that the 260z was for sale in europe till 1978! There was no 280z overhere! I know of a 1979! 260z.. it was a car that was in a dealer's showroom for a long time and sold in 1979.. so in our books (Year of putting it on the road with a licenceplate..) it's a 1979 car. Here in europe the 280zx was the car that came after the 260z.. I Always thought the 280zx and 300zx z31 were the black sheeps... But they are also starting to get more expensive.
  16. HUH ?? In europe you buy a set of wheels for that.. and they are ugly ones!!! PIC's !!!! wanna see that parts car!! (kidding!!) good luck! and welcome here..
  17. OHH.. yes you can... if your garage gets to small... and you store carparts in your home.. I TELL EVERYBODY IT'S ART IN MY LIVING..
  18. And again.. @Mike in 2 !! posts big adverts covering the tekst.. thanks google..
  19. I'm sorry cant read the text @Mike there is advertising all over it...thanks internet....
  20. It's glass realy fine, and black.. after a day drying you can swipe it up and use again.. You see the driveway under those 4 wheels.??. that pic is made after the glass blasting.. no extra cleaning was neccessary What count's is the end result.. I use that machine only this way ones a year or so.. you can't have all the tools..
  21. I use a high pressure cleaner.. with a special part on top that has a special nozzle and a hoze that suckes sand or glass or any ... I do this on my drive, only need a plastic (big) sheet.. works very well.. If i used sand i let it dry and i can brush it all away after a few days.. haha.. Glass is also not difficult, a day and you can brush it together and filter and use again.. Before.. after.. after a ground and silver paint.. ready.. 4 on a row.. looks a mess but is easy to clean.. just a sheet of (garden)pond-rubber.. for not damaging the drive.. The bag of glass is behind the fence. not to get wet.. Very important that it stay's dry otherwise the sucktion stops.. The high pressure pump is around 130 bar.. but the nozzle hole of the sandblaster is bigger so i think the pressure is around 30-40 bar when it hits the surface of the alu- wheels.
  22. Yeah.. all i see is polyurethane.. don't like them.. cheap aftermarket .. I'm also looking for the genuin NISSAN rubber but so far nothing interesting seen.. lukely i have a lot of rubbers saved in the last years for my '79 rebuild.. But a complete set would be a nice thing.
  23. Hihi.. yes it was very clever of Nissan/Datsun... one (size) fits all!!
  24. Yeah... TORCO IS JUST THE LAST PART OF nissanmoTORCO.LTD... hihi...
  25. Welkom Phentree, why should it be a E31? There were early cars with an E88 head.. for all i know..
