Bringing a 1977 Z back life
4-Runner looks nice and level, should be a good trip. Sucks you have to come all the way down to Birmingham but the fall leaves are looking good. ?

Yes he has! Keep up the good work Sir.- Rough idle when cold - Running rich
Here's a good read if you haven't seen it yet. Info on the AFM and ways to tell if it's been messed with, the "glue blobs" on the nuts. Thanks @240260280 "you will also notice a blob of silicone or glue. If this is broken, you can immediately determine that the AFM was "messed with". http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/afm/index.html http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/EFI&fuel.htm- 1978 280z starting help
Did it crank recently or is this a car your trying to get running? I think the '78s have a fusible link that will keep it from running. I've read that was a way to keep them from being stolen. They're the 4 wires close to the right strut tower. Check them for a good connection.- 1974 Datsun 260z
I agree. The paint needs "moisturizing".- 1974 Datsun 260z

Should have said sooner but that pic I grabbed from @240260280 is ZX cover. Probably different than '75 Z, I know they're bigger.- Cheaper would be a deal. 8^)

I have mine at full advance or close to it. They seem to run better to me the little I drive them but I'm trying to do better. EDIT: Zed Head I thought you were the OP, Neb. Sorry about that.- '75 280z - trying to set timing
Looks good to me. Your distributor cap should have a raised line on the outside that will line up with your rotor button at number 1.- Quarter window lower rubber glass to door seal

There's a trick Tom Monroe tells in his book that worked for me a few times. I'll take some pics with my phone but can scan it when I'm back from work. Maybe you can read this.- 5 speed clutch question
rockauto has a better deal than amazon I just saw. In the box "how did you hear about us" put 9238848886853244 for a 5% discount. I think it changes daily? but you can google discount code for rockauto and get the newest one. $93 shipping and all to my house. I learned a trick on the pilot bearing/bushing. Put it between your pointing finger and your thumb, fill it with motor oil and squeeze until you see the outside "sweat" drops form. That oils it throughout. Thanks Tom Monroe! Similar to this...- Disintegrating sealer inside valve cover
That looks like an add on to me. My covers have a hardened caulk looking substance around that shield. Don't know what it is though, sorry. Someone will chime in and tell us, I've read it before on here. - No Christmas Bonus!
