L28 from 82 ZX teardown
That's what I use but with screws. A hook or some kind of claw would work on Ferg's if he could do the "slide hammer time".

L28 from 82 ZX teardown
I ruined an f54 trying to get that rear plug out. Drilled a small hole in it to thread a screw in to pull on with some vise grips. It's so close to #6 I drilled through the soft plug and before I could stop I'd drilled all the way into the bore. Stupid, stupid, stupid or maybe 1beer, 2 beers, 10 beers?

Loud noise coming from rear brakes on my 240z
How far will your emergency brake lever come up? If it stands up to 12 o'clock your shoes are usually worn out. New shoes will go to about 10 o'clock in my experience with these cars. For what that's worth!

L28 from 82 ZX teardown
They do serve as a high pressure "path of less resistance". I've read on here where someone romped on their Z before the thermostat opened and one blew out. I've seen one that was pushed out of a water filled frozen block on an old pickup of my Dad's. They're the duct tape of the liquid cooled motor. Started out as one thing but ended up useful as others.

1971 240z Refurbish in Denver
You're right about no info online. I got my "how to rebuild" book out this morning and here's what I went by... I rembered them having a metal wire like strip embedded in the rubber I assume for some rigidity to push them down? I had to nip that off to get the cap to sit down flush.

Know kidding! I have a short attention and seat span.

I don't remember my Nissan's having the "nails" but Felpro definitely had them. There's about 3 ridges on one side of the Nissan side seal. Google to be sure but I think those go towards the crank. The flat side faces outward. Please double check though, it's been a few years.

No contact on the tight side? Fubar is right! Good luck.

Intake manifold noise
I adjusted mine back to working proper. Seems like ccw brought the rpms down? But I am most likely 180 off.

1971 240z Refurbish in Denver
I would. Get the rear cap half way down and slide the side seals in. That's the easiest way I know of thanks to @Diseazd Buy Nissans too. I've got the p/n in a file at home I could give you tomorrow. $13 for the rear main but I can't rember the side seal price.

The white M car has Brian Jessel dealership sticker on the trunk lid. Must be part of their pre-owned program?

Failed CO emissions - all controls removed - where to start?
Anxious to see what the OE fuel pressure regulator does. My set up is very similar to your's except for that. I've only read bad on the adjustable ones like the one your car. Maybe this will get you where you can pass smog check?

P79 head mod
Thanks Jeff! I have a "volume knob" fix on my CTS. Louder=more fuel. I can flood it out. 2 things to do this winter when it's too cold out. Oh wait. I forgot about the 99 other things I punted on this summer when it was too hot. I'm getting old.

Waterproofing a Fuse Block
Google "blues tech tips". I think it's under "electrical". Here it is... http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fusiblelinks/index.html Or maybe this? http://www.zcarcreations.com/howto/maxifuse.htm

P79 head mod
Good to know! Thank you. I've got an N42 combo, head and block with dished pistons and some F54 flat top pistons I could put in the N42 block. I was worried about running pump gas but after watching what you did I'm not too worried about swapping out the pistons. I have some later 240 rods I'd like to use. I've read they do something better than the L28s?

I apologize for being lazy but are using the stock cam and EFI on your car? I'm wanting to pep up my 280 now after reading all you guys build threads. I've got the stuff and the car runs great but I'm bored...

P79 head mod
I rechecked mine after the initial "run in", about 150 miles of varying speeds to set the rings then again at 500 miles. Haven't touched them sense. I really need to do that soon too. Glad it all came together for you. Congratulations.
