  1. So first thing, do not overtighten any mixture screws in a Weber carb!! You can damage the seats in the carb... The white smoke coming out of the carb might be atomized fuel Remove the any linkage from the gas pedal and see if the butterflies will close any more. Also an small inline fuel pressure gage can be very helpful Do these carbs have any electrical solenoids on them? I believe some of these carbs had anti dieseling solenoids on them
  2. So what are your plans? This will be hard for me to explain but I will try. Ok, the holes aren't level. So either the front hole has to move up or the back hole has to move down. The material above the holes appears fairly smooth, so where does the extra metal come from to move a hole down? Or where does the extra metal go to move the hole up? Now one possiblity Is the wrinkling behind the radiator support if smoothed would allow the bottom of the radiator suppprt to move forward. This would allow the whole triangle of the head light bucket to pivot making the bolt holes more level. Does anyone know if the radiator support is supposed to be plumb in the chassis? Ryan was your radiator support removed or replaced?

  7. I'm not surprised it didn't come cleaner. The chemicals get less and less aggressive every year
  8. Has the fuel tank been lined or restored? Sometimes tank liner can block up the lines. I would take a little piece of SS aircraft cable and route it into the tank line to make sure it's clear. I have even chucked long pieces up in a cordless drill for stopped up hardlines
  9. I would drive as far as it took to get the car I wanted, but I like to drive. Not a huge fan of planes either but we have had people from the forum fly in to look at cars and then drive them home. I prefer to trailer an unkown to me car. Ask for a couple of days off. Maybe a Friday and Monday. That gives you 4 days. Where in Ohio? My daughter is in Columbus
  10. In todays market, if you find a decent car for a reasonable price you have to move on it. Go see it, give a deposit, something...

  15. I will do some looking around California Datsun has one and may do it but I wouldn't deal with him for any reason https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-REBUILT-steering-rack-pinion-complete-with-new-boots-/154016286981 I did find these two. I don't know if they would handle a vintage rack or not... https://turnonesteering.com/rebuilding-services/rack-and-pinion-rebuilding/ https://www.rackdoctor.net/

  18. I dont really have recommendations on tires because size dictates the options. There are several threads about tire selection. The bigger the contact patch, the higher the grip. Even when turning
  19. Yes, I call that scrubbing. Struts, fender lips or an air dam if you have one. If they dont scrub then I would run as wide as I could

There maybe be part numbers either on the ends of the caps or on the center yoke
  21. Do they scrub?
  22. That's good progress!
  23. They also sell cut a gasket material at most parts stores
  24. How will you retain the bearing? Interference fit?
