[2015] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I had a Duster as my first high school car. Man they are ugly, slant six, indestructible no matter how hard I tried. Saved for 2 1/2 years to buy my 1st car, a 240z...

Restoring a 1977 280z! (My first z car)
It's nice to have on loooooong trips, like Toronto 2016. I just added it to my daughters BMW Z3 for trips back and forth to college...

Restoring a 1977 280z! (My first z car)
I had an add on system on my 240z when I was in college about 25 years ago. It helped reduce but not eliminate tickets. There were 2 magnets added on the driveshaft 180 degrees from each other. They were epoxied and wrapped with tape. There was a sensor close by that picked up the magnets rotation like a modern ignition does. When you got to the desired speed you hit the "set" button on the control switch. The under hood cruise control module would then modulate the throttle linkage to maintain the driveshaft speed per the magnet pick up. The brake and clutch had switches that disengaged the system when pressed to prevent runaway acceleration. Worked good at the time but the control was not very elegant. The beaded chains gave adjustment so slack could be removed. The controls looked like this, about 2-3 inches long and an 1" across. Look for this unit inside the car. Trace it from the cruise control module...

Restoring a 1977 280z! (My first z car)
Captain, I believe cruise control is a good call. The chain looks like is could attach to the throttle linkage to control speed. Jake, Look around the interior for a small add on cruise control switch. Possible under the dash, on the stalks or under the seat near the center console.

Project Crush
What is interesting is the bearing journal has no discoloring at all. I wonder if the coloring happened before machining. Also I have seen much worse bearing shells. If the crank is true and not under sized have it magnafluxed and move on...

RT Mount with or without integrated mount?
Thanks, Missed the link... A little pricey but a great concept. I would probably fab my own because I can, but I love the simplicity and the bullet proof nature of the design.

RT Mount with or without integrated mount?
Takayuki Where did your mount come from? Did you make it or purchase it?

Just ordered my Rebello 3.0, now what
The carb sync tool you are using will handle higher rpm if you turn the rubber adapter to line up with the holes in the unit. That allows you to tune the 3000 plus rpm values

Project Crush
If you get the l28ET see if they will let you pull it yourself or at least help. Yard workers are notoriously rough with stuff and tend to cut versus disconnect or unbolt. You need all the harness, ECU, intake system, ignition and the exhaust through the "J" pipe

280Zx Turbo Might Be The Next Collectible
53k is still pretty low miles for a 33 year old car. Does the 82 have the six digit odometer instead of the 5 from the older cars?

1976 280Z Restoration Project
I just bought the lizard skin instead of DIY route. I used the insulating lizard skin first then the sound deadening product. Just be sure when you spray that you get enough on so it lays out smooth or even orange peelie. I may even top that with Dyno mat. The car is already much quieter sounding.

What's it worth? CLSD diff
True. Having the right timing can change price but I have always sort of worked on the premise "It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it." In this case I can't really do that because I am looking at throwing in a car, a door and a differential and a little cash in trade for a different car. Just want to be sure I set my value right. The link was very informative. Thanks for that.

What's it worth? CLSD diff
Zed I know I could sell it on Ebay and truly determine what its worth but this is a little different. It may end up being part of a barter deal and I need to know what the value is so I know what I would still owe for the car we are trading for. That's the problem...
