  1. Two used 240Z hood release cables with all fittings, including the small screw that attaches the cable end to the firewall bracket. No fraying or wear on the cable, no breaks or kinks in the housing, grommet present but could probably stand to be replaced. This cable will also fit a 260Z, the bracket uses only two mounting bolts. $60 each, includes USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate shipping within CONUS. Payment via PayPal (F&F please). PM if interested, thanks.
  2. The cars commonly referred to as Series 1 were built into late January, 1971. There were approximately 20,500 of them. These cars had the vents in the hatch. Beginning in February, cars referred to as Series 2 had the vents relocated to the sail panel behind the quarter window. According to cars registered on Carl Beck's site zhome.com, your car was built in 08/1971.
  3. One set is sold.
  4. I have two sets of used OE 240Z L/R fresh air ducts available. No cracks or damage at the opening that mounts to the radiator bulkhead, no cracks or damage to the bellows or elsewhere. There are some scuff marks at the elbows so I would class these as excellent Daily Driver quality, not concours. $90 per set includes USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate shipping within CONUS only. Payment via PayPal (F&F please). PM me if interested, thanks.
  5. Great work, congratulations! The car is looking beautiful, you have a very skilled and talented man leading the way.
  6. Lighting off an anti-tank missile would probably get your neighbors excited!
  7. @Zup - Jim, thanks for the kind words. I get all my plating done locally at a commercial facility, they know me by sight. I've found that its all about the prep work beforehand. Recall the old IT saying - GI-GO. Lots of wire wheel and Dremel work to remove rust, scale, ...whatever. Even a bit of wet sanding when required, straighten anything bent, ...etc. Its a great hobby and I enjoy seeing good parts get a second life. Not the least, the hours keep me off the streets at night! Jim
  8. I know you asked for info on chromate plating. There has been quite a bit discussion on this site recently about whether Nissan used chromate or yellow zinc plating. I think the consensus is Nissan used yellow zinc and clear zinc for plated parts, not chromate. Just FYI, your car and your choice as always. Examples of recent yellow zinc replating:
  9. I've had Hagerty for several years. They initially required a comprehensive set of photos for the underwriters to review, no onsite inspection. I upped my valuation a couple of years ago, can't recall if they needed new pics.
  10. Spot on!!! Looking great, congrats.
  11. This past Tuesday, with friends - went thru an extensive and well organized collection of used parts that had been pulled from S30's, S130's, and Z31's. Purchased a lot of S30 stuff to eventually organize, checkout, and offer for sale to our community. Some very interesting treasures were in there. Impossible to estimate how many cars had been stripped to build this collection that was stored in a shipping container. That's my Xterra with the back seat down and the storage area filled to the roof. Yes - that's a pair of E31 heads.
  12. Short pigtail fuse box in excellent condition. No burns or melting, no wiring damage. Cover is almost perfect, locking button works smoothly. $165 via PayPal includes standard domestic shipping. PM if interested, thanks.
  13. Center dash bezel in excellent condition. Louvers in perfect condition - no cracks or breaks, smooth operation. No scratches or scars. Fuel light works, map light needs a new bulb. Small stress crack in top left screw hole, not readily visible. $60 via PayPal, includes standard domestic shipping. PM if interested, thanks.
  14. You might also consider using Greyhound for shipping bulky items.
  15. Alan - many thanks for reviving this post. Fantastic reading.
  16. A few other points of consideration: - The majority of cars produced in 1969 actually arrived in the U.S. in calendar 1970; - Most of the 1969 production cars are titled as 1970 models, state DMV's make their own decisions so a very few chose 1969; - 1970 is the first full year of production. Ultimately, as Steve points out, its Nissan's determination to make and we'll all be glad to party with them in 2020. Trivia: when Ford introduced the Mustang at the New York World's Fair in April 1964 they called it a 1964 1/2 model.
  17. Let's presume your dash controls look like this. The top lever is for (1) a flap to open or close an opening from the cowl, and (2) another flap that manages the direction of the fresh air inside the heater box. When in the off position, no outside air comes in and the flap to admit cabin air in to the heater box is open. This is where your A/C system would be routing air. Air flow comes out thru the center and outboard vents. The center lever is pretty self-explanatory: it manages the water valve to block or admit hot water to the heater core. The bottom lever shifts air between defrost or room. The owners manual says this lever has "no relation" when the vent is open. The aftermarket A/C system has to use the above. It is the equivalent of "recirc" in a modern system - no fresh air. If you have the top lever anywhere but OFF, you dumping outside air into heater box and defeating the A/C. Adding to the problem is the blower fan in the heater box is trying to pull air thru the A/C, an inherently poor solution. None of this has anything to do with the V8 conversion UNLESS they also messed with stuff in the cabin. Hope this helps a bit.
  18. I suspect the date for 15647 is not correct, possibly a typo. My close sibling 15320 is also a December build.
  19. Given to me recently by an insider who told me Nissan would soon be releasing some commemorative items. Some of these may be making an appearance at ZCON.
  20. Thanks Charles, My wife recently completed a long run of prednisone and the withdrawal left her with fatigue and body aches, now subsiding. She was in no shape to travel so we had to cancel our plans for ZCON. You, the Jims, Cliff, and others will have to party just a wee bit harder to cover for us. See you all next year in Branson I hope. Jim
  21. If you make it to Dallas, we'd love to host you and Janet for a meal. Keep us posted on any plans to be in the area.
  22. The complete light unit has to popped out of the overhead panel and bulb swapped out from the back. Its a tight area - tough to do up near the roof, you might want to unplug the light and do the swap on the bench.
