  1. Might be the same form as a brake line bracket. If you have some old struts. Or, wouldn't be a surprise if something was available as a brake line fab part.

Cuomo speaking at noon Eastern time. Running a bit behind apparently. https://abc7ny.com/
  3. Some guy in his garage drinking beer and talking. Chevy though. We need a Z site. He's making a boilermaker with no shot glass, just pouring it in. Black Velvet. Must be Canadian.

Does anyone really know what "stay-at-home" means? The message seems unclear even when an official tries to explain it. They say that you can go out to exercise but they don't really define what that means. Now they're threatening fines here in my state but I see people walking around the neighborhood all day. I feel lucky that Washington apparently is ahead of the virus, relatively speaking. But the governor needs to make more sense. https://komonews.com/news/coronavirus/inslee-announces-crackdown-on-violators-of-stay-home-order Seems like they could help distancing just by doing an even-odd thing like they did for gas rationing. If your name starts with a certain letter then certain days are when you go out. Or use your birthday. Simple stuff. People are looking for direction.
  5. That wasn't actually a question, it was a comment about myself. The questions were "have you, or any of your family members, had any guns stolen?" And are you advocating that every able-bodied citizen gets a gun, as a civic responsibility. To protect others. Just two basic questions.
  6. If you put the long end in the pump flange it will pass through by quite a bit because the flange is thin. Wasted threads. Therefore, the short end makes sense.

I think that I misunderstood your comment here. Cuomo was the main topic but Kushner was the second one. Sorry, I think that I assumed you would be a Kushner fan, but maybe you meant Cuomo? My fault for not clarifying. I've been polarized. Various media sources are starting to turn their attention to Cuomo's past decisions. There's always something in the past. At least he maintains a focus on the target. His daily briefings are keeping others honest, I think. Original post -
  8. Here is a new thread to talk about guns. Some posts were made in a different thread making fun of people who were stockpiling ammo or buying new guns because of the COVID-19 virus. People have strong opinions about guns. So, here's a dedicated thread to talk about them. Here's where the other conversation ended.

Can we stop talking about guns? The number of guns in society will have no affect on the COVID-19 virus. I'm going to start a new gun thread. Give me two seconds. Here it is.

I think that's how vigilantes think. "I'm doing this for society". "They just don't know that they need it." I'm pretty well along in years and I have never thought "I really wish that I had a gun right now" or "I wish somebody here had a gun to protect me". Like I said earlier, different thought processes. Nice that you feel secure from a frontal attack. You might wake up someday from getting attacked from behind and your gun will be missing. Or a car or home break-in. Owned by a criminal. Have you ever had one of your guns stolen? All of the "I needed my gun" stories involve somebody being openly aggressive and giving time for a response. That's not real life. Here's the thing about these gun conversations - are you saying that everybody should have a gun and be trained in how to use it? Should we all have CCW permits, or even better, like some parts of Oregon, just open carry? Like the Old West. Because if you're not saying that everybody should have a gun then you're saying that only a select few should have a gun. How did you become one of the select few? Secretly protecting society with your concealed weapon.

Trump is talking now. He is still just a weird weird guy. I can't comprehend how his brain works. He started off by talking about how great the economy was before the virus. "Then we had to shut it off". Weird words. Now he's giving name shoutouts to corporate executives again. Bizarre. Has trouble pronouncing the big words. He's telling weird stories about people being "in a coma". Birx is up now. She is showing some good charts. Talking about hope, but it's still way early. Birx used the UW IHME model for her projections. Fauci is up. Talking about Italy's leveling off. Mitigation is the key. Keeps saying the word but hasn't defined it clearly. Masks or not? Not a word about masks... Pence is up. New motto - "30 Days To Slow The Spread". Nothing new. Just have to keep distancing and wait. Questions... Lots of good Q and A with the professionals. Now Trump is up and trying to spin things. "What would have happened if we had done nothing?" So that he can compare to 2.2 million. Trump is asked about face masks. So he decides to talk about New York and New Jersey. And Washington. Now he's talking about what if we didn't do anything again, and the guy in a coma. He's stuck in repeat mode. "Lotta death". He's really rambling and not making sense. He's asked again and says that if you want to you can wear a scarf. The experts don't have comments. And...back to classic Trump.
  13. And halfshafts. I had a bunch. Usually the u-joints are fine and all you have to do is remove the screw on the Zerk hole, put a Zerk in, and regrease. Check the u-joint seals for pliability and rust. They dry out and break up. 280ZX halfshafts will work fine in a Z also. Cheaper and usually better than replacing yours with $20 u-joints that might be loose from the start. Also look for Tokico lowering springs. They're red and will say Tokico on them, I think. Discontinued but people really liked them when they were available. https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic20c02

The captain of a Navy aircraft carrier sent an urgent memo asking for help to contain an outbreak on the ship. Captain Brett Crozier, commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, asked that the ship be allowed to dock to let the 5,000 sailors on board quarantine. “We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die,” Crozier wrote yesterday to Navy leaders, according to the Wall Street Journal. “If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset—our sailors.” Crozier warned the ship, which has already seen at least 70 cases of coronavirus, did not allow for the social distancing recommended by the CDC. “With the exceptions of a handful of senior officer staterooms, none of the berthing onboard a warship is appropriate for quarantine or isolation,” Crozier wrote. In response, the Navy said it is “moving quickly to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of the crew of USS Theodore Roosevelt.” https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Exclusive-Captain-of-aircraft-carrier-with-15167883.php

I haven't forgotten or overlooked anything AV8. We just have different views on how to live our lives. Good luck with yours. I would move to a safer place if I wanted to be safer. Guns make you slightly safer. Moving can make you very much safer. You can spend your time and money on a sniper tower modification to your home or you can spend it on finding a better place to raise your family. Your kids won't be helped by your guns when they're at school or while you're gone on a work trip, even after this COVID-19 thing gets over. You can't rationalize that away. You choose a gun. I choose location and avoiding danger. You can't convince me and I can't convince you. We're burning internet here...

This web site has some very interesting charts and data representations, even animations. Worth looking through. I think that a true date-nerd must work there. http://www.city-data.com/coronavirus/
  18. If you want to start hoarding ECU's and AFM's and ignition modules are getting harder to find. Always nice to have some known-good parts on the shelf for torubleshooting. Keep an ECU and ignition module behind the seat, ready for the sudden-failure that those parts can experience. Edit - not sure which ignition module you're going with. but, others might need one. The bulky 280Z modules by the fusebox.

Masks might be recommended for everyone soon. Dr Anthony Fauci said the White House is examining whether to recommend more widespread usage of face masks to mitigate the spread of coronavirus. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, said medical professionals should still have priority in receiving face masks, considering they are on the front lines against the virus. Officials previously warned Americans against hoarding masks as hospitals said they were running dangerously low on personal protective equipment. But Fauci said there could potentially be some benefit to more widespread usage of the masks if the country can get a sufficient supply of them. “Once we get in a situation where we have enough masks, I believe there will be some very serious consideration about more broadening this recommendation of using masks,” Fauci told CNN earlier today. “We’re not there yet, but I think we’re close to coming to some determination.”

Edited below - My point was that you only need one gun and a small amount of ammo to protect your home. Just like you only need a week or two's worth of TP. And what you do with it will be in the privacy of your own home. The rest of us won't see it. The details don't matter. Just like the empty TP shelves, the long lines at the gun store just seem pointless. But it makes people feel secure, so carry on with it. Any more words on this topic are pointless too. People have their beliefs. Edit - I do have to say though, that there is no way I will ever take a job in Emerald Isle, NC. Way too dangerous down there. Sounds like the place is over-run with crime. Is all of NC like that? I lived in Hattiesburg, MS for a few years and never felt threatened. Edit 3 - removed Edit 2. Bogus crime stats. Anyway, fear can be debilitating. I'd be more afraid owning a gun than I am now, without one. It would be an unnecessary danger, no matter how well-trained I was. I'll take my chances. I can still run pretty fast. Edit 4 - here is a better view on crime. Emerald Isle is 1.5 times more crimey than the average. That would be enough to make me think twice about living there. Good luck AV8. Consider moving. You're in the red zone. http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Emerald-Isle-North-Carolina.html

People in Kentucky are being asked to stay in Kentucky. If they leave and come back they're supposed to self-isolate for 14 days. Pretty good incentive.

Yes, Kushner. Were you talking about Alabama or Auburn? My mistake.
  23. Zed Head replied to Zed Head's topic in Open Chit Chat
You can see his wins though. We're not winning. Kushner is not part of a winning team. So far, he'll just be a curiosity in a failing effort, something to study after the fact. Interesting though, that Saban is probably better known for lying to LSU. No offense. He is what he is.

This fear of home invasion seems significant. Can't really understand it though. It implies that the guns are never actually in a gun safe, that they are always at hand. Under the pillow. Sleeping with a shoulder holster. Ready for the invader. As far as buying guns for value, like gold, that implies that a person would then trade them for food or other supplies, in a crisis. Why not just buy canned food, meant to be stored for months or years? Seems like we're mixing the ability to shoot somebody with buying them for investment purposes. Just being real. People are free to do it though and it's their money and time. It's really a very personal thing though. It won't matter to anyone except the person whose home is invaded and the person doing the invading. Inconsequential as far as the actual COVID-19 crisis though. People at home with their guns? Doesn't matter. Buying extra guns and ammo is the same as buying extra toilet paper. No offense, I just don't see any difference.

For a real "leader" you sure don't see much of him. Cuomo is talking now about how the 50 states are bidding against FEMA for ventilators. FEMA is the Feds. Kushner is behind the scenes at the Feds. What is going on? The ventilator prices are getting blown up because of the Feds. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/13/jared-kushner-combat-coronavirus-facebook-127941
