  1. There were actually two other tribute cars on e-bay recently. One had a white engine bay (and I knew the owner) and the other had a black engine bay and a host of other differences. This is is the third that I have seen and seems to have the nicest motor of the bunch. All nice looking cars.
  2. Well, finished up sanding on the '73 and it's off to Lance's shop for some 901 silver. Should have it back in a month or less. Now it's time to clean parts and get items ready for re-assembly. Saw this sticker on the back of a panel and don't understand a word it says. Looks like a man with four arms and a funky hat walking near his house.
  3. or read up on the R/T mount. That works for me on my '71
  4. zyulatr has posted pics on the main page. Need more though
  5. Best and safest way to remove oil pan with motor in is to remove the two bolts from the passenger side motor mount rubber. Raise the mount arm with jack approx 1" and slide a 3/4" block of wood in the gap. Lower and remove jack. This is all the space you need to remove oil pan. One concern I would have is that you removed the oil pump...did you remove the shaft that goes to the distributor? If you did, you will now face some timing issues. Get's tricky there. For the pan, first, double check all bolts are out. then I would tap the sides with a rubber mallet
  6. so will you be selling the front Amco bumper guard? I am in the market for a nice one on my '73.

  8. Some of my faves....I would give that hardtop jag best of show. Pics do not do the car justice. It was incredible. Amazing I got the picture of the Lexus. Crowd around it the whole time.
  9. That's pretty, I like it. VIN not too far from mine. I am curious to know what you paid.
  10. SoCal Z Owners, don't forget the Cars and Coffee this weekend. I will be there around 6:00 AM to save us an area. See you there, Rich
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I am planning on being there before 6:30. I will try and save a number of spots for the Z cars. Looks like we have at least 10 coming so far. The more the better! Rich
  12. Seems to be a very nice car, but hard to tell for sure from the pictures (as always). The interior looks great. Even has the original radio and very clean console and dash. Does not appear to be a cap. That is impressive. Paint seems excellent, though it's very hard to tell from pictures. I am guessing the paint is original since the dash looks that good. Also looks like someone went hog wild with the undercoat. I think that is a dealer item that varies from car to car. The undercoat in my '73 is pretty random, not as heavy as this one. May have something to do with this one being back east. Would like to see more of the undercarriage. The passenger side frame rail looks to be a little beat up, but hard to tell because the pic gets cut off. Also, seems to be a lot of surface rust on the undercarriage, but very normal. Regarding the 20K mileage? Could easily be 120K. Looks like some decent Michelin XZX tires on it, so they are not originals, but definitely have been on there for a while, same as my '73 with 147K. So, my guess at value? Given the attached information, I am going to say between $10K to $18K. I would love for it to be $25k (which would mean my '70 is way under-insured at $30K), but I think that is high. Just my thoughts....FWIW
  13. Well, after doing the rust abatement on the fenders, no way I could put the old bolts on. So what to do...zinc'em of course. I replaced the standard round washers and lock washers from a kit, but zinced the unique items. Caswell has the kit at a discount this month for those interested.
  14. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35458&highlight=intake+manifold+torque here it is
  15. That seems about right. To advance just rotate dizzy CCW. Looks like you can't retard (sorry Mrs. Palin) any more, but that looks close to hitting the #1 plug.
  16. Yes, the shaft driven by the cam that goes between the oil pump and dizzy can be one tooth off. you need to remove the oil pump to re-align i beleive.
  17. Those radio's go for a good chunk on e-bay:paranoid: So do the AC items and emblems
  18. Here's one for less than half of what the seller is asking. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/ctd/1830609956.html
  19. Took apart more than I had planned. Pulled fenders to check for rust. They were not too bad. I did use a little Por-15 in the lower corners , mostly as a preventative. All the bolts came out easy. That was a good sign. Got the inside fenders cleaned and painted. Now back to sanding. Found my next project car. Will pick up in 3 months or so after I have the silver one complete. It's a pre-Z.

Small 4 1/2" Makita Angle grinder. First cut at 45 degree angle at 1.5 coils. Second cut in middle of 1.5 coil so it can be removed. Wear eye protection and gloves. Did this only to front, stock springs. The rears are stock, 39 years old and sag. I did this so the front would match the rear sag.
  21. I like that one
  22. No Way this is a $14K car..I am thinking $6-8K at best. Negatives: - Not the original car color - back tail light panel wrong color - modified air intake - I don't see the 2400 on the valve color , don't think it's number matching - aftermarket radio - I am sure there is much more I think it would have to be much more original to fetch that kind of cash.

Just cut off one and a half coils from the front shocks on the yellow Z without removing the struts. Looks like the drop is about 1.5", which is perfect. I did have to use the spring compressors, of course. It would have been safer to remove the whole strut, but this was a bit quicker.
  24. Congrats! Looks like a pretty sweet ride. I think the color is descent. I don't care for the rims, but the rest looks pretty nice. My daughter would kill for that color.
