I have always looked at the speaker holes. There is a noticeable flat spot between the bump and holes on the early and no gap on the later.
  2. Now Jeff Beck is gone. One of my favorite songs.

Hi dutchzcarguy , my Fairlady 240ZG has the same configuration. The three way connector pipe for the vent tube is also made of plastic and it tends to be brittle as it gets old especially the nipple for the small diameter tube. The J shape bold vent hose from the tank is connected to this three way connector. And a small diameter tube is climbing upward to the clip on the upper edge of the quarter panel then going down to the rubber grommet to drain outside. The hose I showed here is for the US version and it has longer end than the one for the three way connector. So, the US version hose 17235-E4600 can be used for the Fairlady Z series also the cars without vapor tank. You just cut a little bit to fit the three way connector. The orange is 12/1971 US Datsun 240Z, the maroon is 06/1972 Fairlady 240ZG. Kats

Hi, just a reminder of the difference between the two of interior trim panel. The Blue one is an early type which has a small box for the plastic tank. The black one is a later type which has a larger box for the metal tank. If you put a metal tank into an early car, the trim panel would not fit properly. Kats
  5. You probably saw this info from @kats during your search, but I just wanted to post the link for others that might find it useful. It does include most of the OEM part numbers for the early and later designs and has a lot of great pictures.
  6. the text in the add: " Needs additional work "
  7. It's rough, bodywork is very rusty, I see many places that have been replaced allread and rusted again. Thing needs total resto.

Marty here are a few pics of the unit installed. The one pic shows two cables. These come from the back of the unit and are for a USB input, the other is for an MP3 input. The USB is a short cable and MP3 is a female jack. I had to buy longer cables to come from the back of the unit to the consul area for easier access. The pic showing the small hole below the volume control is an internal mic for hands free operation. Ralph, the guy who did my upgrade, installed this at no cost. Not sure if other authorized installers do the same. The upgrade does come with wired mic that plugs into a jack at the rear, then you can run the wire wherever you want. I believe it has 6 or 10 ft length.
  11. That Z looks better than most of the piles of ferric oxide they have offered up, but yeah, I’d be skeptical of any car they offer up.
