Oh you're really asking for it! Listen, this only got started because humans like to have names for things, and we are intrinsically lazy. The big exterior obvious differences with cars that do or do not have the hatch vents, pillar vents, vertical def. glass, original console, and the big perceved value, rarity and coolness jump between "early" and "late" 240's that have these big obvious differences, required our stupid human minds to create a simple way of expressing ourselves when we wanted to say "the cars with the hatch vents, vertical lines, original console" but since we're lazy decided on "Series 1". I'm surprised no one has claimed to be the first to use the term. Tweren't me. Then things got crazy when there were so many other changes, some small, some big, that happened as the cars evolved and individual country laws evolved that required the cars to evolve in unique ways across the globe, as well as Nissan deciding to add value with more features and power. As we've discussed there are likely 7000 small and large incremental changes most of which do NOT constitute any reason to give something a new name. I'm happy if I only ever hear these terms to give us clear and simple names that we can use for discussion. S1 240, S2 240, 260, and 280. Hell, just use the year. I have a 70. I have a 71. then if anyone cares, tell them if you have vert def glass or a late console. It is impractical to arbitrarily decide what specific changes constitute adding a another number to the series series. Frankly the more I think about it, its really all about making everyone think your car is better than theirs just cause it has all that early stuff or is special. That's why I'm busy sharing all the cool unique stuff about 3798 and 2744 cause they're Canadian and have unique stuff AND they're early, AND I found two of them! Na Na Na booboo. I don't spend hardly any time telling you about all the stuff on my 73. (Unless I'm trying to sell it, then look out!) Damn it, humans are crazy beings.
  2. Its good for finding out what people are having for lunch and for the Russians to spread misinformation.

Very nice list. Somewhat vague. Missing many things like brake rotors and front brake dust shields. Clear hatch glass without demister lines. I must have a Series 0, then.
  4. Earlier this year, I felt a disturbance in the force when Zup signed up for facebook to access the local Z car club chatter. If you know him, you know this is huge ....
  5. Great feedback. Welcome to the fun! This is really a great site.
  6. Hey Guys, this is definitely not the first topic I thought I'd be commenting on here. But, for what it's worth, a very big reason behind my Datsun ownership was that I wanted to push myself to do things that are out of my comfort zone (like, you know...talk to people.) That being said and given my age bracket, Facebook should have been a natural fit, but it's not. Other than having a couple knowledgeable friends over to the house, this site can't be beat. Happy Holidays, very thankful you all are out there.
  7. Poor condition would be it burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp.

NO, that is a integral part of being able to afford to properly restore the car. I can tell you that it would have been more lucrative if I have parted out the car, but I believe that we have to save these cars!
  11. OK, I know your tired of the engine pics, but I got the new spark plug wires in and wanted to show them. Nissan wires are no longer available (several sights listed them but the orders were cancelled with product no longer available) , so I went with the premium Standard Motor Products wires because they were black, cut to correct length, and had the #6 plug with a slight angle. That is about as close to the original as I could find. I am not sure about the red cap on the coil, I do not think that is correct, but everything else is just about right. I also put in the choke cable and alternator. I will make the final connections after I replace the connectors. I should have the engine bay about finished this weekend.

Good day all, Its been a while since I've visited the site but the other day I received a "Happy Birthday from the Classic Zcar Club" email.....nice! Anyway, I thought I'd say HOWDY and let you all know my series one is still with me and I'm having just as much fun driving it as I do looking at it. No ticket yet!!! I was thinking the other day....I've owned my 1970 240 since 1983......34 years to date. Shoot, I just had my 66th birthday so that means I've had my Z for more than half my life.....holy crap batman!!! Not likely to part with it any time soon either......Ok, maybe when the dirt nap time comes along and then some lucky person can carry on with it....who will it be, hmmmmmmm!!? Still riding mountain bikes and riding my crouch rocket. Truth be told, my 2009 highly modified Yamaha R1 gets more seat time than the 240Z.....its just way faster than the Z!!! So, again HOWDY all and respond if you wish. As I've always said in my posts...."Its just one mans opinion" Tom
  14. FSM says mechanical fuel pump pressure should be 3.41 to 4.27 psi.
  15. That's easy. FIELD TRIP! I got to go to farmers field with a Z buddy and drag its rusty a$$ onto a trailer in the snowy Canada North winter, freezy many unmentionable parts, then have lunch at A&W. A treat I rarely get these days.... sigh.... That and the BOAT LOAD of valuable series 1 parts that it contains for the other S1 car I recently aquired. 'Tis only the body that's worthless... And even then there are several little tid bits that must be kept, like rear tail light trim lower clips, and a pedal box for Auto-manual conversions etc etc etc.... Even a neighbor that makes his living by hauling scrap metal benefits. Circle of life baby, circle of life...
  16. The link in blue is where I ordered the clamps from. Cost is a little over $1 each. Not bad.
