  1. If the switch got hot, then also check the fuse block, in particular the parking light fuse area. The old fuse blocks are riveted together and cause a lot of resistance making the wires hot. David Irwin(zondabrain) designed and makes the headlight harness and parking light harness and sells to MSA. Buy both the headlight harness and parking light harness. I prefer to deal directly with Dave.
  2. Long overdue update. The rear suspension renew and overhaul was a success. Everything was sandblasted and painted with VHT Roll Bar and Chassis paint. Tokico Illuminas and Vogtland springs (I wanted to give them a try). 4:11 open R180--I love it. The five speed is very nice as well...I need to stop forgetting that I have that 5th gear! I will post more photos from my phone. Funny story. As soon as the rear was buttoned up I went on three joy rides with 18 month old gas. All of a sudden, she wouldn't run. I suspect I got water in the distributor at the car wash. She was down for a few weeks. I went through 10 reman Cardone dizzies before I got a good one. I decided to upgrade to the 280zx distributor while I was replacing it anyway. 10! Now, I've logged another 40 miles or so. She's a blast. I refinished (amateur) a set of Watanabe RS-8s and these will most likely never come off of the car. She will be parked again for a clutch master cylinder (does anyone have a source for a larger bore?) and the clutch slave. Engagement is very weak, even after bleeding. After the clutch parts, next will be a retrospec front air dam and a 432 rear spoiler.
  3. Both are good suggestions. Also the actual ignition switch is held on to the back of the lock assembly by 2 small phillips screws, easy to change. Prior to doing that, you can simply unplug it's electrical connector & plug in a replacement switch, then turn the switch with a slot screwdriver to test. Rock Auto has the switch for $17.
  4. Only one post. You might want to @ him. @Howling_Moose My @ thing's not working though. No names come up. Mileage and a list of parts still on the car would be good. Will you remove parts, will you ship, etc. @H still nothing... Something weird going on with it. It worked below. @Howling_Moose
  5. That's not a 79. It's a 77 or 78 280Z (not ZX). Are you selling whole or in parts?
  6. Hi Cliff, It might be because the 240Z has a different pressureplate height than the later 280Z and 280ZX. A lot of people just simply buy the 280ZX with the collar and be done with it. I think that will be eventually the only option available, due the demand reasons. There is just a lot more 280Z and 280ZX's out there. Your 240Z might already have had a replacement 280Z pressure plate when you changed it. If its still original, then you only need the collar from a 280Z or ZX and it will work perfectly. The sketch and photo might help clear it up a bit. Im not ure if the sketch is 100% correct. I only know the 280Z, 280ZX non-turbo and the 2+2 & Turbo is correct because I have both in the garage somewhere. Btw, The photo is not mine, I think I found it here. Someone here might be the owner, so thanks
