  1. Me and my first Z. Picture of a picture of a time long gone: I should show this to my kids to prove that despite what they think, I really was cool at one time

I picked this little guy up on a recent business trip. He was sitting in a shop in Oslo, Norway and I figured he would be a cool addition to my desk. Apparently trolls are famous in Norwegian culture.... and the Internet.
  3. And don't forget to mention the gold chain necklace and ginormous glasses. We were all stylin' in the '70s. Eat your hearts out, Millennials! Dennis
  4. My first Z! A new 1977 280 in sunburst yellow with dealer applied stripes and rear louvers (first pic) in New Hampshire. A year later I painted it bright yellow, added stripes, a sunroof, fog lights, a radar detector, front and rear spoilers, BFG tires and headlight covers, in Weymouth, Mass., 1978. These last pics are from a short trip south from Boston, Mass. (where I was going to UMass) to Cape Cod. Painters pants, bell bottoms and platform shoes. Pretty hilarious!! The car looks a bit like a Mexican taxi now that I look back on it !
  5. My first. A used 71' that was silver when I got it. This is when it was just painted black by a friend of mine. Rebuilt the engine and Ported and polished the head. I had dreams about it for years…..

Me too. I promise I won't tell you mine if you promise not to tell me yours. Not counting either of us, of course!
  7. I hate visiting my bodyshop guy because everytime i go there he reveals some more rust he found. But then again i love it because the work he does is clearle a work of art not many people in the world can do... But let's start from the beginning of t his week. He finally started to work on my car again and kept updating me with whatsapp messages about every step he did. Well most of them were more problems discovered: Dents and cheap-arse unqualified rust-repairs everywhere. Here's a closer look at the right rear corner. seems like it got a hit at some point: He asked me to bring the rear lower corner valances and the rear panel today so he could prepare the rest of the repair and when i arrived there i was greeted by this. Jup- not much of the original car left But the good news is as you look closer the dents in the rear area right from the taillights have been fixed and the area below the trunk lid has been fixed as well: This was the patch panel he cutout below the gas lid: Here the custom panel is welded in. We tried to install the gas-lid today and it fit perfectly. Quite impressive for a custom-made piece! I made even more pictures but for some reason my camera lost them Expecting big updates soon but as you look close you see there are still a ton of details to be fixed...
  8. If the booster is bad, make sure the master cylinder isn't leaking. That is the usual cause of booster failure
  9. Haha! Well don't be too sure I got it right! These cars have a way of teaching you a lesson. You'll know more after you disconnect the brake booster and plug that line. Hopefully you'll get your smooth idle back.
  10. Much better info provided by Whitehead, but Whiteline's US site saves a few bucks: http://www.whitelinesuspensionparts.com/w11044
  11. The stock alternator will work fine unless there is some good reason to need more current. The internally regulated alternator is a little easier to source, especially if traveling
  12. It is my understanding, none of the cars left the factory with the rubber bumper strips on the sides. That was generally added later or by the dealer before the sale

  14. Captain O's most recent post on Brake Boosters. Also lots more info if you do a search.
  15. I think I may have posted this picture in another thread topic. but this seems like a good place to do it again. Northern Wisconsin, November 1971. I bought the Z after seeing one on display in Tokyo on my way home from living out of the country for about a year and a half. I still have the Z and the white leather sheepskin lined jacket from India. But, not the cashmere turtleneck sweater from Hong Kong or nearly as much hair. Gotta love 1971. Dennis
  16. I bought this one in 93, but I don't think I have any photos of it before this one taken in 2001.

Absolutely, but if the cooling system isn't maintained the stamped steel impeller will wear out faster then the cast iron one. The real problem is that the cooling system is so easy to forget about if it is working properly, if the system is maintained, every 3 yrs drain the coolant, flush the system, fill with fresh coolant then the chances of overheating and prematurely worn out pumps would be very low. But it's a nasty job and easily put off, a drive in the country is much more fun then changing the coolant.
  18. These 240K were in our culture for a long time.We grew up with these Skylines......
