  1. Yeah, as I said when I posted that pic, that was "before" I adjusted them and moved them all one post clockwise. So now mine look like yours. For some reason, they ran fine that way on the old engine. ...which leads me to my news....Got it fired up!!! It turned out it was a combination of things...the location of the plug wires on the distributor which I had already figured out, the rear float or needle was sticking and although it had fuel in the line...there was none in the bowl, and the chokes were not fully engaging. I didn't realize you need to pre-tension them a bit before tightening the bolt on the cable. So once I got all that sorted...she came to life on her own! I got her up to temp set the idle timing at 10 degrees and synced the carbs..by that time it was getting late. So, this weekend I'm going to get the fuel mixture dialed in with my colortune and set the full timing. Then time to start getting some break in miles on it if the roads are dry enough. Crappy i phone audio...but that big cam sounds awesome! IMG_6113 by blodi, on Flickr

The Mustang passed RDW yesterday ! One more on the road soon..
  3. I only mentioned it because that fine grit will find a way in if it can. I bought what was supposedly a reman distributor from a CL person and found grit inside when I took it apart. I think that someone blasted the outside and didn't get everything sealed. Probably tear the heck out of synchros and bearings.
  4. I plan to. I'm traveling this week, with plenty of time for researching, dreaming, planning and asking annoying questions, lol. Testing resumes this weekend.
  5. I don't think Wheee will mind to much. Im amazed that Rockauto so expansive is for an original fuel pump. RockAuto is normally very competative with pricing. There is a nissan dealer on ebay with NOS units for $249. Manufacturing date on the box is April 2002. That is about where Bosch stopped making them. If you were to go with the original style, go with the Nissan NOS pump. Its a Bosch and from all the pumps I have seem the bosch version seems to wear less and perform better. http://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-fuel-pump~17011-p7211.html http://www.ebay.com/itm/280Z-FUEL-PUMP-OEM-GENUINE-NISSAN-1975-1978-/331780616477?hash=item4d3faa711d:m:mP3RS9OVuY8fOIguL5bsLpQ&vxp=mtr I went with the alternative Bosch pump. Thats the one Bosch suggests as a replacement since my good performing original Bosch pump was leaking at the house o-ring. I don't know the Delphi unit except its more expensive than the bosch replacement I bought so I would go with the bosch unit. I would do a little more testing before buying a new pump. It could be a number of things causing low pressure/flow problem. You could buy a new pump and find the inlet filter was so full of gunt that a perfectly healthy pump was not getting any fuel.
  6. It is my understanding that the Elephant oil cap was produced in honor of the East African Rally win. I am not sure if they were put on cars at the factory, but my 73 had one on it when i bought it in 1977. Bonzi Lon
