  1. Mr. K is smiling right now! "Love cars, love people, and love life." I've owned quite a few sports cars in my life and have belonged to several classic car communities. I've got to say there is more good karma on this list, in this community, and surrounding this car, than I've seen anywhere else. Thanks for helping Jai out, guys! And Jai, "Enjoy the ride."
  2. Hi Bratliff.... Just arrived home tonight. I have confirmed that I do have a 76 fsm...pretty much new condition. I don't have a 76 car. You do. I will send mine.
  3. This is becoming the movie happy ending solution I mentioned in my earlier post. I hope I don't cry Dennis
  4. Jai, Just be patient for right now. I talked with Chet tonight. He's up for a field trip out to your place around the end of the month. I'll bring all my favorite diagnostic toys. I'm sure Chet has a few, too. You can use our opinions to help you with charting a good course to having a drivable Z.
  5. Paint the block bare. Use good engine paint and it will not get damaged from oils, lube, etc. If you wait to paint it, you will likely get some oils on the block and the paint will not adhere.
  6. That is what I like about this site too. The members are friendlier than other forums Im in. I don't know why the others seem to be so "agressive", there is no need for it. Unforntunatly I can only offer advice and mental support. Back to Redbird and redwing. I think when you weigh up all the pros and cons the 280Z still seems to me to be the best option for your current situation. If funds were not a problem than the 240Z would than be a better choice. Some more photos of redwing would also be helpfull. Redwing has been sitting in the weather for 8 years and I persume something went wrong with her before she was parked. If I was in this situation with all the history around Redwing I wouldn't sell her. I would try to preserve her more. Just sitting in the outside elements like in the photo don't do these old cars any good at all. And you never know what opportunities may just be around the corner. Once you get an fsm, you can read up on the tech stuff and start doing some fault finding and assessing the situation before spending any money on both the Zeds. I wish you all the luck with your endeavours. Maybe Steve wiil come to the rescue. Chas
  7. I had Mario Andretti sign a Paul Newman shirt I was wearing a few years ago. I stretched out my shirt and he singed on my chest. I could not speak at the time I did get out how bout a pic as he walked away. Hand sake also. That was cool.
  8. Everyone... You folks are Just Wonderful. I am so amazed at your offers to me, and truly bless your sweet hearts! Yes I will wait for you all, using my neighbors and son for trips to wherever, or borrowing vehicles. I am much at peace knowing I will not have to put her in the hands of a non Z person to work on her. You all are an answer to my prayers. Thank you...
  9. If you don't have one, she can have mine. It's been with my car since new so is a little rough but complete. I can deal with electronic versions. Also, once I get my Z back on the road, I'd be willing to convoy up there with some others and see what we can do. I just finished dropping and cleaning my gas tank and will be replacing some iffy fuel lines and such this weekend so I've got a little experience with these cars now.
  10. A Datsun for just $75 is quite a deal. No pictures of the interior, so may need an expensive make over. I do, however, appreciate that it's a "four on the floor". Looks lowered, too. Any chance the owner drives a Dachshund 240Z? Dennis
  11. My DATSUN tail pipe sniffer.
  12. Jai. I know it would be a hard dicision to make, but I think your best option is to move forward with the 280Z. Be carefull with sentimental value, it can come at a cost and that is what you are trying to avoid right now. Point is; The 280Z was runnin recently and the 240Z was not. Looking at the photos, I think you will come across a lot of hidden problems and the assosiated costs. Penny and dime costs can really add up. If the fuel injection is causing you a lot of grief, than the carby swap from the 240Z could be your best alternative. Fault finding, especially the way most of us do it, is to replace suspect parts. Doesn't mean that part has failed completly, just highly suspect. If that doesn't fix it you move on to thenext item in the list of suspect parts causing the problem. This is not a very atractive option for your sistuation as it can run into high costs. The FSM will be your first step and then diagnosing the problem and how to best approach it. Can you join a local Z club? That you be a good move. Most clubs have members that are friendly and eager to help. Chas
  13. Prefer local pick-up in Bakersfield, CA. From 76 280z: - removed used a/c parts (compressor, seized pulley, vacuum canister, brackets, some relays and vac. tubing). The box is heavy and needs to go as one unit, please. A/c was disconnected in the car when I bought it, the a/c compressor's condition is unknown. A heater core will be included. Chevy 350 engine bare block, 4-main, I acid dipped it a few years ago, still has surface rust. 0-over if I am not mistaken. It will definitely need to be bored out. For faster response please email me at simzealot at gmail doooootttttt com. Den
