  1. Is it me or the fan on backwards? In the last picture the fan would rotate so the blade cuts into the air and pulls it in, right? So the curvature is normally on the inside like a boat propeller. Maybe the fan has more offset if you turn it over? Just guessing though...
  2. You're from Oregon and you just said "y'all?"
  3. Looks like you may have a 280ZX fan on there. It has a different offset for the mounting face than the S30 fans in order to clear the extra pulley rows (WP/ALT, PS, AC). An S30 fan may just solve your problem. It can be 240Z-280Z, they're all the same in terms of offset. Yes, your old radiator is OEM. The Koyo looks to have a larger core.
  4. Progress is such a sweet thing. It was time to do the bore notching. After watching how Cliff's notches came out I knew I could do better on mine. My Z buddy just happen to have a small sanding drum set. The biggest drum was 2" and he also had a 1" . It was almost too easy with 80 grit paper on the drums. Just used my cordless drill and it was very manageable and very quick. I didn't even burn up one drum doing all 12 notches. I used the 2" drum for the intake notch and the 1" for the exhaust. As I advised cliff I went conservative-especially since I'm already 30 over on the bore. Anyway, I very happy the way they turned out. I scrubbed the engine down twice after kicking up sand and started in with assembly. It's was quite a change shoving pistons down in a hole with only .00015 clearance as opposed to .0045. Even with this tight clearance on the piston/cylinder- my rings(Total Seal) still gapped at the upper limits. It's obvious that though Total Seal sells these as file fit, they didn't leave any extra on there. The other surprise to me was when I measure deck height on the pistons. Even with taking .005 off the top off the block the pistons were only .004 above deck. I think these pistons were Sealed Power units. I was expecting to find them around .020 above deck. So the Sealed Power pistons were oversized on the skirt and not as tall . Time to move on. Dropped the crank in there with new Clevite bearings and mounted up all the pistons in the block. It doesn't seem like a whole lot, but for me it was big. Less parts laying around to get lost and dirty. Sent a pic to my machinist to tell him I am waiting on him now-I need my head-NOW. I have also been be working an l28 at the same time. It won't take much to get done. Should be a good cleaning, fresh rings and bearings and a fresh cylinder head.
  5. Words of caution; the widebands will make you look at an engine that's running fine and decide it's got WAY more potential, or isn't running fine at all. Chuckles

Hey guys, Our local Z club - OntZCar, had the spring swap meet today at Whitehead Performance, the shop that is doing the insurance work on Scott's 240Z. Scott was there and his car, he spent the whole morning surrounded by guys shaking his hand and being congratulated. I doubt he had time to look through the tables of Z parts he was kept so busy. I'm sure our minor celebrity wouldn't mind if I give you a bit more detail of the story. Apparently, as far as Scott and the cops can figure the thieves never even got the engine running. They smashed the D/S rear window, opened the car, smashed the ignition off the column (bending the steering column). Then put it on a trailer and stored it somewhere. Scott started his media blitz campaign, and had half the continent keeping an eye open for it, the thieves, realizing the Z was far too hot to handle, backed the trailer into a field and rolled the car off. It sat there for a couple weeks they think before eagle eyed Cody spotted it. Scott says the odometer is right where it was when he parked the car in storage. The cops lifted some prints, so who knows. The car doesn't look too bad, some broken glass on the deck behind the seats, steering column banged up, a chip off the corner of the front spook and a few paint scratches. The engine bay needs detailing as a bit of rust started on the corners of things from sitting in a wet field. Insurance is going to cover it all. I forgot to take my camera this morning but lots of images were being taken so I'm sure someone will post a few. It was a very good day. Chris Admin Mike, I love the green ANSWERED stamp at the top of the thread, very clever.
  7. When I installed a new Nissan brand 180 degree thermostat, my "normal" operating temperature increased a little bit also. But ti was rock steady at that temperature, whereas before the temperature fluctuated, always below the new "normal", but still enough to make me wonder. I attributed it to an old worn out thermostat that wasn't closing completely, or was getting pushed open by pump pressure, letting the engine run abnormally cold. If the temperature climbs steadily to the new spot then stops and just sits there, that's good.
