Hey Guys, what is the best way to take these off? i am planning to get the car painted.

I tried access them from inside by removing the inner panels but no luck. Looking at the new ones they have 3 pins. Should I just use a heat gun and pry them out with a screw drivers?

They are a bit beat up too!!!

They are a bit beat up too!!!

They just pull off on my '71 Z.  No sure if they do on earlier years.

Heating and prying worked pretty nicely. Just a bit more patience and go slow. And there was an abandant wasp nest 😆 

They are held in with barrel clips, tiny clips that wrap the pin and clip into the body.  Metal badge pins work much better than plastic pins.

I followed @Hardway write up on my emblems. Very helpful. There's also the flat clips I think 26th is talking about? You can buy those at Lowes in the Hillman drawers. Flat nuts I think they're called?

Is it easier to put the clip into the hole on the car first and then push the badge on?

Where is a good source for the correct size pins?

I put mine on the emblem then pushed until they "clicked".

Bought from local dealership.

 

Does anyone know what size hole to drill for those clips?

That's interesting as i did not find any clips like these nor any double sided tape. Badges were metal, i will try these too.

I did my hood emblem with those. Quarter sides may be different? Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.
