[2020] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?

After letting my '75 Z collect dust in my garage for much of the past year, I took it to a local specialist for new brakes & suspension work.  I'm finally heading into the checkbook mechanic camp.  ☺️

Battery Bling!  Finally got around to installing new battery terminals that have sat around about 4 months.  I like the way they look and will be great for the eye candy part of car shows but the functionality will require more effort. Instead of just a 1/2" (13mm) wrench,  I'll have to add a full set of Hex keys and a 9/16" to the tool carry kit.  The plastic covers look good too but there's Nooo Waay that I will ever let an Autozone guy replace the battery without me removing them first.

Those are great. Mine look slightly different but have taps for my heavy audio requirements. I found these plain jane red and black covers on AmazonPXL_20220510_194802202.jpgPXL_20220510_194815723.jpg that fit the terminals well.

I have the stock alternator in my ‘75.  I only have a pair of itty bitty speakers in the headrests of each seat.  My seats are from an early Miata, made to house headrest speakers.  One thing’s for sure, they really don’t get LOUD.  🥴

What alternator are you running? I'm considering putting some rattle in the hatch of my '77. Be like 1986 with four Pioneer 4x9 ts6907 in a plywood box. The Z is a perfect coupe for LOUD. LOL

Standard alternator Bosch AL236X.  Plenty of amps to run the Sound Ordnance woofer behind the passenger seat and the Kenwood amp under it.  Speakers inside the front center console and inside the B-pillars.  Look inside and you can't see anything but Z.

I've took advantage of the weak British pound and purchased some leather interior parts from the UK. I installed the door covers this past weekend and will do the center console next with the dash sometime this winter.

The leather panel cover looked plain so I added some quilting to it using a sewing machine I barrowed from the library and 1/4 and 1/2 inch foam. The panel looks OK but I need to try and get some wrinkles out with some heat and leather conditioner. I also need to get the door latch straightened out and find a replacement plastic chrome piece for the top of the door pull. (Anyone have a used one they want to part with?)

My 1971 series 1 car needed a head gasket (leaking because I think the head wasnt torqued correctly), and also reinstalled original carbs after overhauling and associated emissions equipment back to stock.

Engine was rebuilt and has about 2000 miles on it from the original owner a while back. Head and block are straight. Car sat for about 18 years without being driven. Needed new brake lines and a brake booster. I had the brake booster overhauled at Power Brake Booster in Oregon, they did a great job.

This is an original car with 48,000 miles documented. Only "restoration" work completed on the car was paint and body. All original interior.

No leaks and runs great.
