Hey mates

This past afternoon I pulled the calipers off my front rotors to see why they were squeaking. As I had expected the pads are down to their last few mm and in need for a change - I also broke a metal brake line but that's for another day. I was going to purchase a set of Wagner Ceramic brake pads as replacement. Has anyone used these before? I have slotted/vented front rotors for reference, which need to be machined (and will be) before this is all said and done.

Porterfield R4S pads. You can get them through PMB Performance online cheapest.

I'm curious about the Wagner Ceramics also. I went through a whole search for pads thing, using all internet info, and it came down to the Wagners or Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic pads. I chose the Centric pads but haven't installed them yet.

I have Beck Arnley pads on now and they work well but they took some extra effort with the factory shims and anti-squeal spray to get them not to squeal. One pad still squeals when braking backward. One reason I went with Centric was that they seemed to have a good anti-squeal considerations,with shims pre-attached, and they say that they're "scorched" at the factory for minimum break-in time. Who knows...

Zed, I used the Centric pads on my car for the past three years (I don't drive so much really) and loved them but sadly they're pretty much gone now. I have a discount on the Wagner pads - $14 a set - which is why I ask. My driver's side pad (inner) is pretty much down to levels where I don't feel really safe driving much more then a few more days.

Do you mean that your pads are used up, or that the Centrics aren't available anymore?

By gone I mean that the pads are nearly down to the metal, maybe .25 inch left.

I wish I had know that last week when I purchased a set of R4S pads online from the Porterfield website, the cost to my door in southern Ontario, $138. Half of that is UPS. I'm hoping they are worth it.

I'm running the Centric Posi-Quiet pads in Toyota 4x4 calipers on my 73. Absolutely no noise or dust. Since my dd is an Audi the dust issue is important.

Just wanted to update you all on the brake pads. I did indeed end up buying said wagner ceramic pads and from the first few rides I prefer these over the centric ones. They just seem a bit quieter and have a bit more stopping power, or at least it feels this way.

Had two set of Porterfield's - they ROCK!

I just bought the Wagner PD161 ceramics and a pair of StopTech 127 Hi-Carbon Cross-Drilled & Slotted Rotor from rockauto for $160. Budget brakes that hopefully I'll like.
