Quick question -- where did you guys get the rubber seals for that early air cleaner box? I have one as well, but need to get the rubber seals for it.

Try Bruce Palmer at Z Therapy......They sell reconditioned Air Boxes......Everything they do is AAA+......even if he does drive a station wagon!

This is just achingly beautiful... really its mindboggling how pristine everything...

You sir, have me green with envy

Holy schnikes! That is the best looking stock engine bay I've ever seen. Fantastic work Guy!

It would be very interesting to get a wide-band A/F meter/recorder on that engine - then dyno tune it... Would be interesting to see if the SM's are too rich.... I've seen several reports that they are - but it would be good to see a direct comparison with supporting dyno runs..(on the same engine, same day, same dyno etc).

Everything sure looks great...

FWIW,

Carl B.

Carl......We did the dyno test with the SM's and an A/F meter and recorder. I'm not an expert, but my friend doing the dyno said the A/F was absolutely perfect through the entire rpm band. The only area it was running slightly rich was at idle. W/O the air cleaner we were running slightly lean at 7,000 r.p.m. I've got the chart on A/F if you need to know any specifics at different rpm. His comment was that even fuel injection doesn't run a better A/F than the L28 did! Guy

Nice job!

What did you guys do to finish the valve cover like that? I am wondering what the best way is to restore to stock standards.

Thanks,

Marty

Your efforts came out so perfectly that it doesn't look real! Without question you've raised the bar to the top. Hat's off to you.

Guy,

Thanks for the report on those dastardly SM needles. We know they run fine and have since first used in '73. I'd like to see a companion run done on the dyno using the stock needles for comparison.

Over all, great job!! Where'd you say you got those carbs again?? Nyuck nyuck

Subtle as a wagon driver....

But one day I'm calling you guys up for carbs...
