Carbon parts (post suggestions)

About re-creating a tail light panel as a single piece instead of the three. Are you sure the original panel is not comprised of three pieces for a reason?

If you're sitting on info about the 3-piece design - please share it.

I have no idea about why the panel consists of 3 pieces. I might not have

been clear enough about that it will be checked properly so it will be compatible

with surrounding/existing parts in mind.

Neither money nor orders will be accepted until the parts have been made

and tested for my car. Might as well point this out.

so roughly.. how much do you think some of those parts will cost?

Are they reasonably priced.... or ALOT of money??!

Don't know any prices yet. Check the one I posted on the cowl plate earlier

in the thread. That's the only estimate I've gotten from SCE so far.

Possibly related to repairability. i.e. not having to replace the whole thing if only one corner of the car gets damaged.

That's the first thing that came to my mind as well.

Not enough reason to change from 1-piece to 3-piece though, I'd say.

If a corner would get damaged, you probably have more damage to your

car to get more upset about. It's not exacly a vulnerable spot - like the

front spoiler for instance.

The tail section is in three pieces (IMHO) because the build quality of the original cars was poor. I have seen many cars where the panel fit is slightly different on the rear panel so the width is slightly different (have seen up to 1.5CM)- three pieces allows you to compansate for how big the back panel ACTUALLY is.

The guy who is making mine found out to his cost that it is harder to fit a one piece than a three piece because of discrepancies in the steel panel fitment.
