Spent the weekend installing my new interior. Looks great but was surprised at how much more quiet it was. And, no more exhaust fumes. Sent from my [device_name] using http://Classic Zcar Club mobile

We went to a car show last Saturday, and were awarded a Second in the Stock classification. This makes 5 trophies RedBird has won in 5 shows, I'm very happy we are doing so well. My Service Dog Lissa was with me, and RedBird was so shiney that she reflected the trophy and Lissa too. It was a great time again, altho awfully hot. We were indoors at least, and brought a fan which helped. We are regestered with ZCON, and Best Western for Oct. 19 & 20th. Hope to see many of you there. It will be so great to meet my online friends in person.?

I jumped in and rode with this rolling car show for an hour south then turned around and came back home. A whole bunch of American Hot Rods, and me. There was a BMW in the mix too. 6,000 cars from all up and down the East Coast. People were all over the sides of the road waving and taking pictures. It was pretty cool. http://www.hotrod.com/events/power-tour/

Finally got the radiator back from the shop yesterday. Whenever I have this type work done I always specify "no paint". Cleanup the tanks and frame with a Dremel and a cup brush, wipe down with wax and grease remover, tape up and primer. Wet sanding and gloss black paint on the schedule for tomorrow.

Pulled the F54/P79 out of the parts car finally. Not sure how I want to build it yet. Whether stock or some moderate performance gains. The '80ZX I have on the road now doesn't need rebuild yet, but I believe I've read that the N47 head on that car with a more aggressive cam coupled with the F54 would produce some good performance gains. For now I will break it apart and see what's what. It'll be my 1st L series rebuild. I will be getting ahold of the how to rebuild your Nissan/Datsun L series book for sure. Fired up the brass wire brushes, ultrasonic cleaner and bucket of spray 9 cleaner. Also used Zep Purple for the heavy stuff. All went well... now an expert at removing rings. Can't separate the oil pump yet... it is a tough one. My propane touch will convince it tomorrow.

Finally had the time to jack her up and replace the leaking seals. New top hat (inside cable end), seal, and o-ring. Used the top portion of the screwdriver to seat the seal in the pinion housing, pic 1. Simple job. Now for the not so good news. Discovered I have a 19 tooth gear (pic 3) still in this tranny. I could have sworn I took the 17 tooth out of my 4 speed to put in the 5 speed transplant about 20 years ago, hmm.... Oh well, its only 5 mph diff on the speedo. Never equated that diff to be the reason for the incorrect speedo reading because I've always thought the pinion gear was correct. Not sure if I want to be bothered with getting and installing a correct…

Finally got around to installing my new end links from Zcardepot. Bought the kit from them. $20 + shipping. As you can see in the pics I had help. My handy dandy quick grip clamp from H.F. Worked perfect. Was able to do the install without adding any weight to the corners like you read in some of the forums. An hour job total time. While I was under there I took a look around and things sure are oily under there. I think most of it is coming from my front main! Oh well, guess I'll do that next.

I replaced my aftermarket seats with originals that I found-recovered them in leather with red contrast stitching. Then completely refurbished the door panels in leather with the red stitching and diamond pattern! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
