Hi Folks, Long time lurker, first time poster. I've searched for this and unfortunately haven't found anything. Does anyone know where I could get the rubber seals (gaskets?) for the stock SU air cleaner? This would be for the early air cleaner (non flap, non heat-riser tube). I am thinking about getting rid of my individual round K&N filters and going back to the stock air cleaner box. Oh, and would anyone happen to have an extra set of bolts for the air cleaner? I'm missing one of the wing-nut/inner bolt pairs. You know, the one that holds the outer shell to the mounting plate and the bolt that goes inside the air cleaner between the outer bolt and the mounting plat…

I just got a new set of 40 DCOE triple webers and am having problems with fuel leaking from the carbs. I bought a set years ago for another Z, and they worked great right out of the box, but I can't get these new ones to stop leaking. These are the newer ones with the plastic floats. The documentation says that the closed position of the float should be 12.5 mm from the cover gasket and 25 mm max open. I have tried these settings and have even progressively moved the closed position all the way up to 20 mm, leaving only 5 mm movement of the floats, but they still leak. I have read online that if you remove the jet inspection cover, take out the main jet that there shou…

Well I am over the top excited to be getting a set of 4 screw SU's done by Ztherapy! I kept my current set of carbs on the car as to have a good set to baseline all my readings, then I can get the new SU's on start tuning. I know the quality of the products put out by ZT, I am looking forward to getting them on, but any advice and things I should do first. Also any helpful advice on pitfalls in removing the intake? Thanks! Signed one excited Z car owner.

Ive got a 75 280z with Triple webers on it and i cant for the life of me get it to run right. It idles great at 800-1000 but anything between 1000-2000 is death and after that it just wants to go go go with a little hesitation here and there. Ive seafoamed / carb cleaned the car best i can and replaced all fluid / sparks. If anyone in the area has experience with these carbs and can tell me if i need an allout rebuild or such i would highly appreciate the help. Free meal and 12 pack of beer on me for any and all help. Thanks so much Rob

I just completed my SU converson on my 1975 280Z. I have the 3 screw round tops and could use some advise Upon starting the car, I find that the front three cylinders (Front Carb) are not working in that when I pull the plug wire out, the engine continues to idle without stumbling. When I pull the plug wire out for the other 3 cylinders, the engine stumbles. When I spray carb cleaner in the front carb, the engine begins to idle normal. When I push the piston up in the front carb, the engine does not die. When I push the piston up in the rear carb, the engine stumbles or dies. When I push the choke for the front carb, the engine idle picks up. The mixture nut on the n…

I get a slight fuel smell coming into the cabin from the engine compartment when I gun it hard, and then release the throttle. I've made sure the floats are right, the float gaskets are new, and the carbs are adjusted perfectly, at least in my mind. The car runs great, idles smooth, no problems. To simulate what happens, I took off the air cleaners, reved the motor up, then covered a carb mouth with my hand. I was rewarded with a splash of fuel into my hand. Its like the needle doesn't drop down fast enough to shut off the fuel when the air is throttled. I took off the domes and cleaned the insides, to make sure they slide smoothly. This might just be how these thi…

Some Hitachi SU's and Intakes have coolant ports. I notice that the latter ones do not. Is there any advantage to it or not. Also , can a SU carb with the coolant ports be put on a non coolant intake and visa versa. thanks Al

So I'm having some real trouble with my SU's. Ever since I got my headers and exhaust put on, my car hasn't been running super smoth. It ran like a top previously. I attributed the poorer running to the exhaust guys likely messing up the carb settings when they removed it all to put on my headers and not properly tuning them when they were put back on. So in anticipation of tuning the carbs myself, I replaced the spark plugs. The car had been running very rich (noticable exhaust visible, soot on tailpipes and garage wall, and gasoline/water on the ground behind the pipes when warming the car up) and I figured the plugs could stand to be replaced. I was correct, as all but…
