Hi all. This is my first thread just for some feedback. Ive got a choice between two 240z's 1 with the origanal engine and 1 without an engine. I only want the car for road use but would like the maximum hp for such use. Should i go with the origanl L24 s6 or something else? I aint no machanic but am enjoying finding out all i can as im facinated with these cars. Money is an issue but the best things in life are worth waiting for. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm a young SSgt in the Air Force stationed in Texas. When i was young my mom owned a 1977 280z that was going to become by first car. Well, she wrecked it before i turned 16 and it was impossible for us (very poor) to restore. Ever since then it has been my dream to own a 280z. I'm in love with the car. If anyone is getting rid of a 280Z i can afford to pay 3,000 for it ( shipping will cost me around 1,200.) I wish i could offer more but with 2 kids that live 1600 miles away it costs me over $500 each time i want to visit them, so I dont have a lot left over. I've been saving here and there for the past 6 years and I assure you if there is anyone who wou…

The locks on my '77 280z are basically worn out inside and out. I tried 2 different versions of the coat hanger wire modification to make my locks usable again but they are too far gone. Both the tumbler cam and elbow are hollowed out on the driver side. Short of welding the elbow to the cam I see no way to fix it. I see on Ebay there is a seller in Singapore selling locks for $60/pr after shipping but do not include the correct metal elbow. I spoke to Black Dragon parts and their locks have been discontinued. A seller has a set of used locks for $65 after shipping with the correct elbows but have no keys and who knows if the tumbler cam is good. Is there anyone th…

Does anyone know anything about this company? I have purchased stuff from them before but now they're either not answering my phone calls, or hanging up. Greg Ira

Hey everybody just thought i should introduce myself. first off i should say that this is my first datsun/nissan and i absolutely know nothing about this car so i look forward to learning about my 280z with the help of you guys. But anyways on to the car now, i got the car from my uncle yesterday for free it has a good amount of rust around the wheel wells and the passenger side floor pan is rusted out. my uncle bought the car new in 1978 and drove it til 1997 due to the headgasket blowing and has since been sitting outside til last night when i pulled it into my shop. the interior is in pretty rough shape as well. Now for my first question what is the best site/sites for…

Hi im new to the forum. but posted here years ago when i first got my 77 280. the car got totaled in a minor accident where somebody rear ended me. (low value of the car) but I've held on to it for the past 10 years or so. my most recent car was a 2004 G35 Coupe with a six speed and Brembos. a couple of weeks ago i totaled that car when i hydroplaned on the freeway at 70 and slid into the cable guardrail. i will be getting the car back for super cheap and the damage is all cosmetic with the drive train untouched.... Soooooo guess what i will be working on next? i intend on using the entire drive train, engine to rear differential. obviously there will be custom mounts eve…

AS I put my 280 back together I find I'm missing the clutch pedal return spring. Although I can find pics of it can anyone tell me the length of the spring and how strong does it have to be? I have the brake pedal return spring but their not the same. I'm sure I'll be missing more as I go along but this is the next step. Thanks in advance.

I bought this item on Ebay a few days ago...couldn't resist the patina and original use (a cigarette holder). The seller sent a paper with the item's history: "Just to give you some history on this Fairlady. I was stationed as a Marine security guard at the US Embassy in Peking, China from 1973-74. My Canadian girlfriend at the time was going to college in Japan. I had seen a Fairlady when I was in Hong Kong and loved them. I told her I wanted one and this is what she gave me for Christmas in '73. Since then it has moved to the US Embassy in Manilla Philippines, El Toro Marine Corps Air Base in Calif., several places in the US, and finally in Defiance, Ohio." I paid $34 …

Seeing 24 Ounces pictures of his car with vinyl roof makes me wonder how many others there might be out there. Was it a dealer option? I have only ever seen one other vinyl roof. It was on a ZG. I was very interested in this car at the time but there were some rust issues under the vinyl, and it was an auto, which I was unsure about This car was brought to NZ about 15 years ago, by a Japanese exchange student, and when she went home the car was left with the people she stayed with. This ZG was an auto .Maroon in colour, vinyl was cream. Screw on plastic guard/ fender extensions. It had the passenger footrest as well. Was the auto factory origional? Was the vinyl roof f…
