I'm currently trying to figure out how to mount a set of BMW seats in my Z as a relatively inexpensive upgrade. So, I did a Google search that linked to a BMW 2002 forum message thread that started with this message: "From: jeckel30 in SLC Subject: Anyone Use Datsun Seats? I have been looking around for seats that won't break the bank. I have found a pretty good set of Datsun seats from an old 240z. Does anyone have any of these types of seats in their 02? I am not opposed to fabbing up seat mounts, as I just want something that looks good and is comfortable. I have been searching for a while and I am not really wanting to pay exhorbant prices for Recaro's on eba…

These came in yesterday morning, so today i cleaned them up a bit with some Mothers leather cleaner and conditioner. Here's a side by side with the ones that were in the car when i bought it  .. Needless to say i knew i needed to do somthing about the seats, and i got these on ebay for half of what it would have cost to have the originals re-foamed and covered. They are out of a 2002 BMW 320i. All manual controls, so it will be nice i won't have to rewire anything for them, and the have height adjustment! I'll definitly post pictures of the swap when i put them in :classic:

I have been searching for some photos or a thread that describes the method by which the choke control is attached to the center console in the 73 z. My recent acquisition has the A/C temp control mounted next to the choke lever and the choke control is held in place by a bolt hiding under the A/C control. Its apperant that a PO drilled the hole for the choke bolt and the surroundings are cracking and falling apart. Photos I have been able to find are from above and it sure doesn't look like the mounting involves a bolt from above. There is also a square hole for something, which is where my a/c wires pass through to the control. What belongs there? The A/C control hou…

I finally replaced the seat belts in my 260Z. A few years back I replaced the belts in my 240Z with belts from WESCO. Pleased with doing business with them, I purchased more seat belts from WESCO. This time I went with the Roadster Retractable Seat Belt, WELR-N. It uses the roof and floor mounting points. The hardware kit (a $9.95 option) also includes two 90 degree angle brackets for the bucket seat end. These brackets put the bucket seat end in a good position for use. Installation is so easy that I'm not even going to put pictures up. Frankly, I prefer the roadster style over the 140 inch 3 point belt. It's just something to keep in mind. Z car seat belts are old and m…

Hey y'all! I've been away for a bit. Doing some stuff to my Frontier instead of taking care of my Z like I should. Lately I've been having some issues with the Water Temp/Oil PSI gauge combo... they only work when they want to... gauge light and all. Since I figure it's probably just a bad connection it's time to pull the dash. And since the dash is going to be out I figure I'll go ahead and do the dash crack repair. But maybe since the dash is going to be out now is the time to grab the Auto Meter gauges that I really want in my finished project... or at least figure out which gauges to get and how to install. - I'm thinking Sport Comp or Sport Comp II... but haven…

I am wanting to install a fuel pressure guage in my car. I thought it would be as easy as picking out one on the Summit Racing site, but I guess I need to be schooled first. I have noticed that some guages are for OUTSIDE installation only. I want to install this in the clock slot, so it's going to be inside the car. I would like to see some other installations of a fuel pressure guage including where you tie into under the hood. I will be using this on my SU set-up right now and then on my Mikuni's. I want to verify fuel pressure at all times under load----or is that necessary? I have an aftermarket mechanical pump and I question it's ability to supply enough fuel press…

I just have to share, I'm so happy I could (well, ok, maybe I already did) dance a jig! I spent the weekend visiting my folks in madison WI, and my younger brother (who's a 80's VW guy) took me to the local parts yard. The same '72 (11/72 actually) 240z that he pulled my uncracked dashboard from earlier this year is still there. The ol' girl has now donated the following parts in the name of keeping other healthier (meaning not rusting apart) z cars looking sharp: both plastic quarter window trim pieces complete with seatbelt retaining hooks both plastic interior plastic trunk side pieces both of the little rectangle things that screw on to the main rear trunk trim …

This switch came out of a 72 240z... can anyone tell me if it was factory, a dealer installed option or aftermarket? And what, if any, value it has... Thanks, Mark

I have a NOS rearview mirror that doesn't look like any 240Z mirror I have seen before. It has a different style case and no day/night knob. The part number is 96321-E8300. That number is listed in my RHD S30 parts catalog as Assy-Inside Back Mirror and notes Applied Model-Europe. There is also HLS30U written in black marker on the side of the box and what looks like a date code of 1 8 23 on the back of the mirror stalk. I assume that means a production date of August 23, 1971? So is this the type of mirror that came on European S30s in 1971, or is this another mirror someone put in an old box? If it is original, why did European mirrors not have a day/night knob? …
