The upper u-joint on the steering shaft next to the coupler is worn. The u-joint is not replacable so I am ordering a used replacement from Z Barn. Question is how to remove the upper steering shaft. Can the shaft be slipped out of the steering column while still in the car or does the whole column have to be removed? Has anyone done this? Thanks Miles

Hi, I dont't know if it happened to anybody else before.. I purchaes steering rack boots from VB for my 1977 280Z, they were too big on the rack's side and too small on the tie rod side, the material looks decent but realy wierd size.. is it possible that I'm having a swapped steering rack?? is there any difference between the (240/280)Z steering racks? thanx

Does this moustache bar look like the appropriate one to fix the alignment problem on the series 1 Z? Thanks!

Need a new set of springs for my 76 z. I bought some used (stock)ones from a junk yard, and now they are wearing out. I need a new Set that would only slightly lower my car and will still be a smooth ride

I just measured my car. From the jack points on the framerails. Front = 5 1/4 Rear = 5 5/8. Reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to find out who made my springs. I only know that they are powdercoated blue with no other distinct markings.

Hello everyone! I had the sh*t scared out of me the other day as I was driving home. Here is what happened. Driving down the curvy mountainside road about 30mph, my car started vibrating (almost like when you are approaching a toll booth or hit a "sleeping policeman" on the side of the interstate, or a flat tire). Now, there are no places to pull over on the twisty 2 lane road, so I try to slow down, but the car doesn't respond quickly. I am trying to stear, but the wheel feels heavy (not like a car without power steering) and sluggish. I let the go of the wheel once I hit a straight section to see what happens (normally the car would straighten out by itself, right?) b…

....did you use the stock, flat plate that the original brackets bolted through or did you just both the ST sway bar clamps directly to the frame? Thanks.

Does anyone use the urethane outer toe rod boots provided in the Energy Suspension Master kit, or recommend against using them? They seem to fit OK but might fit a little better by cutting a groove on the inner surface to that they actually lock onto small flange on the outter tie rod end. Any comments or experience will be appreciated?

I think that you guys in this section will know best. My and my brother dont exactly know what it is. We sorta have an idea though. We arnt sure if it just needs a new cover, or needs to be replaced. If I do replace it, would it be a good idea to replace the one on the other side with it? This picture helps show roughly were it is at.

I am looking at a suspension upgrade and evaluating the MSA bushing replacement kit ($164.95) and the Classic Datsun Energy Suspension kit ($179). Any users of either that can provide any pros or cons? Here are the kits I am talking about for my early 70 Z: http://www.zcarparts.com/sale_9.htm http://www.classicdatsun.com/new/z_susprubber.html The Energy Suspension kit seems to have more bushings for the extra $15, but interested in hearing anyone's recomendations. Thanks!
