  2. My horns are not working, I've checked and get power to both so I'm guessing it's the horns themselves. I am thinking I'll replace them and take my time taking them apart to fix when I get around to it. So today's question is what do people suggest? I found this set that seems like a good option: https://www.godzillaraceworks.com/electrical/hella-supertone-horn-kit-for-datsun-240z-260z-280z-280zx-fairlady-z I know that the red will stand out, i could always paint them black.

  5. I happen to have a complete E30 head that I have never been able to sell, quite a niche market for sure. I’m in Western Canada, send me a PM if you want to discuss getting it to you.
  6. Hi guys, this week i sold my 240z! It needed a good service as the engine leaked some oil, the body needed some work and.. i don't have the energy to work on it i will now concentrate on the engineroom of the 280zx i had restored in the past years.. I kept my self made mahogany steeringwheel and gave the new owner the rear wheel arches that i had stored on my attic with the car and some other nice parts to make an nice driver car for every day. As you can see in this pic the car has glassfiber rear arches and they are not original. As i said, i will now with some help of a friend, going to work on my almost ready 280zx! He also helped to get the lighting ready in my carport as he is a electrician as i am also! I finished also the air to air heat pump in my garage, so we can work on the 280zx coming winter. It was a bit difficult to let the 240z go but i had it for 27 years, and drove it for 25 years! It was a blast!
  7. Thanks, so i took a look at my own, also orange model and that is a 1971 240z model.. so not the Franklin Mint model.
  8. I think that I saw that or something similar on PBS or one of those channels. It was more focused on the main guy with the mustache. Rick Hall. Pretty fascinating show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Hall
  9. Hello all, long time lurker, first time posting. I have a L20A engine that I am currently rebuilding and I have some questions I am hoping someone can help me with since there’s not a lot of information on the earlier engines in the US. First, my problem is the original E30 cylinder head was missing and all I was able to obtain was the E31. It’s my understanding that the E30 had smaller valve(s) and a smaller combustion chamber. I think the E30 was 36-38cc and the E31 is 42.5? My second issue is, the original pistons were garbage, and I can’t seem to find factory replacements. I have been looking at the KAMEARI light weight street pistons (SP-L20401-79) that are 79mm. I understand that I would need to go to a full floating rod to utilize these. I was looking at the CXracing L24 rods which are 133mm long like the L20a rods. My questions are, possible valve interference with the engine block due to the small boar and the oversized E31 cylinder head valves. Next, low compression ratio due to the higher cc head and the new pistons. Any advice on this situation would be much appreciated. 13. Here's one of those weird songs you might have heard once or twice but never knew who played it. Interesting story behind the band.

  19. In Brief: Paul Taylor is the person that bought HLS30 02545 from Bill Reagan, the person that restored HLS30 02545. Paul then took his Datsun 240Z to a Z Car Club Association (ZCCA) annual convention. There I believe it caught the attention of a company that produced/sold fairly high end Die Cast Models: The Franklin Mint. They talked Paul into allowing them to use his 240Z as the model - for their Die Cast model. Thus it became the Franklin Mint Model. At issue AIR they sold a limited edition for ??? $125.00… Paul’s Z was also invited to the Automobile Hall of Fame’s Ceremony of Mr. Kayatama being inducted to the US Automobile Hall of Fame. Because of #02545 documented history, full restoration and association with Mr. K and the Franklin Mint’s model - It has become a very desirable Collector item.

  22. I suppose it could also be bedliner.
  23. I'd just cut the pans out and clean up whatever is left on the edges using dry ice or heat and a scraper.
  24. It looks like roof cement. 😁 I would use alcohol or lacquer thinner on a rag and wipe it to see if it stains the rag black. POR-15 shouldn't wipe off.
  25. It does feel like a thick rubbery substance that looks to be brushed on. the passanger side has this as well and is most certainly does have rust to the point i will be replacing the floor pan. Might be doing both sides it looks like.
  26. That is NOT factory. It looks painted or perhaps sprayed on...and appears thick in some locations. Very difficult to tell what it may be from the picture so this is a big huge wild guess...I'd say it is rust inhibitor of some sort (think POR15, Rustoleum, etc.) and if that is the case you no doubt have rust under it.
  27. Often referred to as the Franklin Mint model
  28. Thank you for info. Will locate the correct sub's. CLSD R200 diff came from a large parts sale. Someone may have mixed parts and installed the incorrect sub's into the carrier to sell as a complete diff.
  29. Eh, sorry but who is Paul Taylor, i only know Tim de toolman Taylor.. 🤣🤣
  30. If the stub isn't locked in securely, it's not safe to drive, especially with CVs that don’t limit travel like stock half-shafts do. Make sure your builder verifies side gear depth and clip retention before reinstalling.

  32. Here in Panama we use 95 fuel. Mechanic advised to use an octane booster. The thing is how much in half full 16 gallon tank? The whole can or half and then fill up the rest of the tank with 95 fuel?
  33. I was about to go get some dry ice to work on clearing old sound deading but I found this under the carpet. This isn't factory correct? As long as I don't find rust on the underside side I think I'll leave it. Looks too hard to remove fully. Or suggestions are welcome.
