hi royce, u r right maybe removing a link will alter the sync, i have another crazy idea, what about if there is a way to snake the path where the chain travel so it will appear like it is travelling in the same distance but actually it was still short distance but re-routed(zig-zag). maybe put a roller on the path...... sorry....just one crazy idea.... thanks.

Hi, now i think i understand. do you think replacing the spring for the timing chain tensioner will not be enough or removing a link on the chain will not do it? thanks,
  15. looking externally to the differential, how will you diffentiate a clutch type from a vlsd. t.y. hf

Hi, sorry i still dont get it. too deep for me. the way i see it is we cut the head on the mating surface with the block, so to me the only thing affected is the thickness of the head. we did not touch the block nor the piston travel, nor the cam rotation (it still rotates at 360 degrees at the cam tunnel, so basically nothing was altered but the bowl on the head. sorry i am no mechanic i am just talking logically. thanks, hf

hi, i got an R200 LSD(86 300zx turbo) the other day (this time it is the correct R200). it does not have a drive shaft connected to it. According to the paragraph below i need a different drive shaft to install it to a 72 240z. from what car will i get this drive shaft. i have the original 4 spd in front. thanks, hf the paragraph below is taken from another z-page, i just dont know which one. i been to a lot of z sites this morning. The input flange is another story however. You either have to change your drive shaft yoke to match the input shaft on the differential, or you have to change the input shaft on the differential to match the yoke on your stock drive shaft. Most people suggest that this is a job for a professional rear end shop. Because the internal parts to the rear end have to be removed and then reinstalled. (not something you want to mess up on). i read from another site that the flange can be remove and replace. it just that it did not specify where the new flange is coming from. is the flange of a r200 lsd be replace by a flange from an R180?
  20. i find and r200 lsd from an 86 300zx turbo. it probably is an upgrade by whoever owns it before. the back cover has fins and the other side shaft turnn on the same direction as you turn the other side, it should be an LSD.
  21. i have a 72 240z, from what year z can i get a rack and pinion that is compatible with my 72 240z?
  22. are we saying that we dont need both(at same time) sway bar in front and the back of the car?
  23. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33731&item=2417020554 Nissan R200 LSD - Skyline/Silvia/Z Car -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Removed from a `95 Nissan Skyline GT-R. Has ONLY 13,000 miles! 12MM ring gear bolts similar to most modern R200's that come in 300ZX (Z32/Z31), 240SX/Silvia, possibly some Infinity models. Uses a 31mm diamter with 30 tooth spline input shaft similar to that used on S14, and S15 Silvia. The bearings look new, and everything looks very clean. Uses standard gear oil with LSD friction additive. If this doesn't easily slip into your car I believe it's worth the work to make it fit. When are you going to see an almost new factory LSD at this price again? It pops right into your 12mm ring gear R200 housing real easily, then the trick is getting half shafts that will work for you with this spline count. Then enjoy the added traction and control your car will have. The larger input shafts mean they are stronger.
  24. just in case you have'nt found any, i have a set(left and right) that i fulled-out from a 74 240z by mistake. i thought it will fit my 72 240z but the housing of the bottom retractor is bigger than what i have from the 72. the top(shoulder belt) retrator is not mounted on the strut tower area, it is mounted on the side of the rear door/(or window, i dont know what it is called). i got it for $24.00. i will probably bring it back this coming friday for credit from the wrecking yard, not unless, u need it. let me know. 25. what are the letter number stamped on a 79 to 85 toyota four wheel drive pick-up front brake caliper that will fit the 72 240z front brake? i saw one of the post here that say "S12", is it the only stamped letter number that will work on a 72 240z? or does it matter what the stamped is as long as it is for 79 to 85 toyota four wheel drive pick-up? thanks,
