  1. My first car was a 1967 Pontiac GTO hardtop, 400, 4-speed. I bought it my senior year of high school in November of 1976 for $1,000.00. The car was in excellent condition, with a perfect interior. This was the best time to buy muscle cars since the price of gas had shot way up, they were gas guzzlers and a lot of people were buying 4 or 6-cylinder cars to save money. Recently, I was going through an old box of stuff I kept as a kid and came across the original temporary paper license. It had the VIN number on it, so I thought I would try to check the Internet to see if I could find it anywhere. Well, I did an advanced, specific search of the VIN on Google and found my old car! 2. If he still lives in California, he may be one of the Brian Morrows listed under the first 8, the next 3 under "Public Records" (2 of them might be, but they are probably too young, the 21 year old could be his son) or the others listed under "E-mail" at the link below: (There is also an option to do a nationwide search). http://www.switchboard.com/bin/cgiQA.dll?MEM=1&LNK=3%3A154&QV=822CAF75B81943DD8B35A4691EA1D1D0l02A33065925A0D4325313203O01A33165925A0D4327313203O07A30E65925A0D4320313203O03A32F3D925A0D43AF303203&SR=&F=brian&L=morrow&T=&S=ca&Z=&image1.x=27&image1.y=7
  3. Bill, Your block casting date of June of '70 would make sense, since the build date is 7/70. Let's try to decode your block #0660K: I would assume that the "0" stands for 1970, the first "6" (or second "6" stands for June), the K for 11th day? I know a lot of the american engine blocks use letters for weeks of the month and sometimes days, not sure what Datsun did. Do you know or does anyone else know how to decode these casting numbers?
  4. Kurt, Interesting.... we were discussing your car and the others in the "Zcar Potter's Field" in a thread here on Classic Zcar Club. Here's the linK, we started discussing your car on Reply #20: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17263&highlight=arizona
  5. Well, guess what?..........The guy had one on the line and couldn't reel it in! Like I said last week, he should have lowered the reserve and let this guy buy it.... he'll never get anyone to offer that much again.
  6. Ed, Congratulations, your car looks great!
  7. ....46 and there's so much more!!! ( I was only 19 when I bought my first 240z, a '72 back in '78, right after my freshman year in college).
  8. Pennyman, You should buy it, fix her up a little and sell it for a nice profit! I'm sure you could buy it from the Pick-N-Pull for next to nothing!
  9. I can't believe it! If this is the only bid this guy gets, he should lower the reserve before the auction ends to $19k and take money and run!!!!!!
  10. Yes, it's definitely a Corvette. Fiberglass pieces missing everywhere and yes, I see the Stingray emblem. The rear window and deck are so flattened out and misshapen that it doesn't even look like a Vette. A total loss.
  11. I wonder where this race took place. Does the track look familiar to anyone?
  12. Are those bullet holes on the side of the car? I wonder if the data plate is still there? Too bad about the engine........ well, I agree with the rest of you, the car needs to be restored.
  13. Ouch! How many hundreds of thousands of dollars are we talking about here? Classic Corvettes, Shelbys and Mustangs. I hope no one was serioiusly injured.
  14. Check this wild ride out: http://cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=25&paId=174780704&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=5&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-ALL%7CM-_65_%7CH-%7CD-_2998_%7CN-N%7CR-10000%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CX-antique%7CZ-80124&aff=national
  15. Great pics, Eric! Pic #5, the '63 split-window Corvette is awsome!
  16. I agree with you, Zsaint. I also hope the worker (who appeared to be dead) survived the accident.
  17. Check this out and make sure you watch the entire video! http://www.bikepics.com/movies/000183/
  18. Classic Subarus??????? What Subaru is a classic?? a Brat perhaps???
  19. Speaking of Herbie...... I just recently took my 11-year old twin daughters to see the brand new Herbie movie and there was a badly-faded yellow 280Z in the movie. The 280Z was in a demolition derby type of event of all things, trying to crush Herbie. There was also a '04 GT0 (without the hood scoops), a '05 Corvette (both of which were driven by Matt Dillon), a '66 or '67 GTO and a bunch of other cars. The movie had some NASCAR racing in it with a lot of special effects.
  20. You guys should contact the seller, Moose483 and find out if he is going to list the arcade! Only thing is, it probably has spary paint on it and he will want about 3 times what its worth.
  21. I wonder if this guy will try and relist the car.......just a hint dude, try cleaning it up a bit and use some acetone on the hood BEFORE you retake the pictures ......Oh, also if you really want to sell it, try lowering the reserve by about 4 grand!
  22. This one would be a strong candidate for Jay Leno's "Stuff We Found on Ebay" segment, although it would need to be slightly edited for TV.
  23. Rick, I use to drive my first 240z everywhere (a '72) when I was in college and single. I have a family now, with a wife and 4 kids and I have to be more responsible and not so care-free. I hear what your saying, but I now wear a helmet when I ski, I no longer ride motorcycles and I won't drive my 240Z or any other death trap on a busy highway. There's far too many big SUVs here in the Denver area and way too many people on the highways compared to when I use to drive my first Z over 20 years ago! Steve
  24. Very sad story. My condolences to the families of the two people killed. We all know that 240Zs are very light, thin-metal cars that weren't exactly built like the Volvos of their time. I won't drive my two on the highway for that very reason.
  25. Here's my two: '71 VIN# 25734 '72 VIN# 64733 In another thread here on Classic Zcar Club, we were discussing engine numbers, engine casting numbers & engine block types: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13151&page=1&pp=15
