  1. I tend to disagree and think that the Cedric is nothing special well not to me anyway. There were a few over here in Australia but yeah they don't appeal to me like some other Datsuns do.. :pirate:

You beat me to it 2 many I was gonna say the same thing. An advanced ignition timing will cause the motor to run hotter. Combined with the higher idle when you switch her off it's very hot inside the chamber and the higher the idle the more likely it is to keep on ticking over when you get pre-ignition. It could also be carbon build up on the plugs or inside the motor in general. However this is less likely. Don't worry I know how annoying it is to have to stop it by using second gear ... :cheeky:
  3. Do you wanna hear the scary part I'm gonna be running ~11:1 compression on the new motor I'm building. However this shouldn't be a problem on the 98 octane we can get here in Australia
  4. Just use a thicker head gasket if your concerned. You will probably want to cc the head and measure how much the pistons come up above the block to work out the comp ratio from there.

  6. I agree an advanced driving course should be mandatory. I know of many people who obtained a licence first time and I would not say they are good drivers. I am yet to attend an advanced driving course myself but feel I should. I know when i get out on the track I'm gonna want some advice and training. However 1 step at a time until I can afford it.

  8. The only thing that made me think the thread was silly is the fact that everyone was doing exactly what Hybrid Z said we would. From the word go I didn't wanna play that game
  9. yeah many are missing but I'm sure Mike is still converting them or incorporating them into the new forum software.
  10. Not to be rude but isn't anyone else curious where the $5600 went?
  11. As oppose to A-LOO-MAN-NIM.
  12. now now this is silly just because 1 person on Hybrid Z said he dares you to post on here doesn't mean they are all criminals. There no point getting worked up over this kind of thing we have 2 sites because different things float our boats .
  13. Hmm what's the difference between Type-B and Type-R Watanabe's? You skyline boys seem to know lots about these wheels I am but a newbie
  14. Thanks for that I think I might have a crack at rebuilding the 260z 2 seater box I aquired recently
  15. I must say couldn't have put it better Enrique.. I guess it's what i was really trying to say above but didn't get it out in those words.
  16. Thanks for the re-assurance
  17. just had a quick read again if you can fabricate something that does the same job as the OEM product and can be used with Gasoline or petroleum products than by all means go for it just make sure whatever it is fits correctly like the OEM product. I should read the whole post before posting sometimes.
  18. For what it's worth I passionately hate cheap fixes in general they often cause more trouble than they are worth. Just fork out the cash and buy the OEM product I know it sucks but that's what happens when you own something unique. You think it's any cheaper for newer car parts not really try the same amount of money for a 89 corolla intake rubber. If you can find a good second hand 1 then that's ok I guess but your always running the risk of having to replace again in a couple of years. My moto time is money so you will be saving money by paying more now
  19. Reminds me of my first 240z a 73 sob I miss that car it was so original. There's something so nice about an original car. It's not butchered and it suits it's ERA people really adore a classic car. If you V8 it then it becomes just another V8-Z as the others said. Everyone says it's your car do what you want but sometimes what you want now you don't want later if you know what I'm getting at? I used to want a highly modded Z when I was a bit younger now I'm a little older my tastes have changed. Therefore do what you like as long as you can return it someday to original condition if you choose to.

You have certainly made my day. I know in the US you have far many more Z's and in Australia they are becomming more rare and more sort after. I can only imagine what kind of prices these things will end up commanding. I hope #27 doesn't affect #26 but gee what a cool thing 2 have both 26 and 27. At least I will sleep good tonight knowing you have them and they will be restored properly. Well done mate and good luck. :cheeky:
  21. Hi AV 240z I remember you posting about your stolen Z on Zdriver a couple of years back did you ever get her back? I like the way the Silver Z is turning out looks wise have you put Watanabe's on it? They look really good whatever they are. Your daily driver looks like fun seems you and your dad are both Z aholics. Cheers. Gavin. PS: Site design is coming along 2.
  22. He unfortunately missed out by about 20 votes. I still can't believe that other sedan won there's really nothing special about it. The Z has carisma that Chrysler Neon look alike looks like a Pokemon car but I guess I should relax it's just a competition afterall. Bad luck mate .
