I believe the plastic cover was from a late model L28 (perhaps Nissan Laurel in Japan), yes it has scratches. Yes it's ugly, and no it's not worth $2,000 USD - at least not to me. For some reason they are popular in Japan and tend to fetch $600-$700 AUD in better shape than that 1. But I can't bring myself to like them, 1 of the things I like most about the L-GATA motors is that big alloy valve cover.

I can't tell you how much I hate the look of the plastic cover. If someone is willing to pay $2000 for the privilege of having that ugly thing in their engine bay. More power to them!

There's only 1 Rally Clock listed I think at $200 a pop, they are rare as nobody thinks they are worth selling. But at $600 USD a pop everyone is willing to sell.. So no, not that rare when the price is that high.

Thanks Mike, that's good news actually since I like the 'arrow' tip heads on the antennas and would love to install 1 on my 72 240z.

I need 2 OEM Harada antenna motors (ideally with masts) to suit my 1970 and 1972 240z's. But right now don't have the cash handy to buy them. At least not until next pay day.

The early antenna has an 'arrow' tip and the later ones have a more flat / squareish tip (on the mast). While on the topic anyone found a donor mast that could be used in place the original (which is often broken)? I've found quite a few motors but the tip or mast is broken...

It is an original car however with all the correct parts still there. Sure it has rust, but how many don't at this stage? It sold anyway from the looks of it, so someone else saw the value in it, even with that vinyl roof...

Pretty sure I tried bidding on those, had to give up when they exceeded $5,000 AUD for the pair... but it would have taken care of 30% of the car rust wise (in my mind) and with the cost of a good panel beater that's probably not a bad deal! Still there was shipping and taxes on my end I had to factor in also. So I let them go, to some regret at the time. I've come across a couple of LHD (drivers side panels) but this was the first (RHD) (driver side panel). It is a much needed part for HS30 00051 which had a minor love tap on it's bottom many years ago! http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/15913-project-51-in-907-green/ I'm sure the original panel could be fixed, but I actually think buying NOS works out cheaper than repairing a panel in worse shape and the finish is almost always better! NOS panels are still out there, just gotta be patient and snap them up when they become available (not when you've got the money) haha.

Jason my car is HS30 00150 and was built around September / October 1970 also. So it actually doesn't have the cover. I believe the cut off date is around July/August 1970. Australian delivered 240z's only got these up until around chassis no. 100 or so.. They are getting harder and harder to find. Like any early S30Z part now.

I'd hate to see it scrapped also, so good luck with the sale. Keep in mind that the Fairlady Roadsters used Topy wheels like these as did other Datsun models. So it's possible it came from another "Datsun". I bought a set of 1969 4.5j Topys off a Roadster recently and only difference is the roadster ones have little tabs for the hubcaps to attach to. Pitting might be an issue. Interested in the car you pulled it out of? Early build 240z? What no. was it?

I have no problem with anyone asking for the best price they can get on eBay. I just thought the whole purpose of offering here first was to allow those who contribute to the community the chance to get it first. As opposed to some random on eBay. Either way good luck with the sale and if you get a good price I hope it helps with your own projects.

I didn't post it with the intention of being a smart arse, but I know when I say to a group that I'm offering an item somewhere first I usually give folks a couple of days to respond and if no response then I list on eBay or another place etc.. eBay just inflates prices (for potential buyers) and reduces profit (for seller). That's why I personally try to avoid it where possible. Would have been nice to list an asking price also. /Off soap box now.

I'd imagine a scribe and a pair of tin snips (used skillfully) could create that cut out. At least I'll give it a go if I ever source a pair of MK63 calipers. Brake backing plates are thankfully not uncommon to find.

Hey Kats, RE: Spare tyre hold down fastener/clamp I had assumed mine was not correct for the car, but after the information you shared I'm guessing it's possible it was fitted by the dealer or sourced from a roadster as you mentioned (I've never checked a Roadster's spare wheel to verify this, but will now that you mention it). The hotwire wheel you saw in the boot of HS30 00150 may have very well been fitted by a local dealer, the wheels are made by a company called Aunger who did a lot of automotive accessories back in the 70s / 80s including the very popular at the time Aunger Hotwires. Below is a photo of the car just after I bought it. I have seen many Australian 240z/260z's with these wheels, my guess it that perhaps the dealer fitted these wheels when the car arrived (removed the Topy spare sadly) and used this type of hold down fastener when the original topy version didn't work.

Hey Kats, Thanks for posting that, I was confused by this spare tyre hold down because I'd never seen it before. I assumed the 1 in HS30 00150 was from another model or car. Attached is 2 photos, I will have to check HS30 00051 also and see if it has the same hold down fastener as this (sadly Topy wheel is gone). Up until now I'd only ever seen the other style. With regard to the bumper rubber caps on the Japanese Market cars, I'm going to guess it was some regulation regarding pedestrians and to prevent clothing being caught on the bumper ends? I'm interested to learn why it wasn't fitted to export market cars.

I'll bet that little kid sat on mum's lap too! Very cool to see it with the original steel Topy wheels too!

$5 speaker and bracket (damaged) - Only interested in speaker. $15 electric antenna - broken mast - Anyone know if a suitable replacement mast exists? $10 battery wire harnesses - Assume these are the battery terminal wires? By any chance can I get photos of these items?

AU market 240z's had these as standard. We never had an air pump FYI on 240z's sold here.
