  1. Put you car in 1st gear and bump the car untill the points are on a lump of the cam of the dizzy. Then check the points gap. Then rock it back to the flat part of the cam so the points are closed, turn the ignion to on, and using a long screwdriver push the points open and see if you get a spark.
  2. Sounds like a faulty turn signal switch, if the hazards still work. Try connecting the solder points on the back of the switch of the green wire to the white wire with the black stripe with a screwdriver and see if the lights come on. Have the ignition on or nothing will happen. If it works the problem is in the switch and you'll have to fix it or replace it. If it doesn't work, then the problam is elsewhere.
  3. A previous owner of my 240z made a bracket and attached the choke to the transmission tunnel, which datsun should probably done in the first place. There'd be a lot less cracked centre consols if they had done.
  4. P.S. Alan Did the Z432 or Z432R ever have flares?
  5. So how much metal surgery is involved in fitting the standard flares to the 240z? I'm starting to like the look, and the extra grip of fatter tires is always good. I'm Considering fitting flares to my car.
  6. My Brother just bought an old celica that has a cd player with a detachable face plate, and was on the phone with the insurance company about insureing the car. This is their position about detachable faces: Brother: I have a stereo with a detachable face plate. Insurance co: You should leave the faceplate in the car, in the glovebox or under the seat. brother: wouldnt it make more sense to take it with me ? Insurance Co: If your stereo is stolen but you still have the face plate we wont pay for the stereo. Brother: Why? Insurance Co: Because all of the stereo hasnt been stolen, since you still have the face plate, we cant pay out on the stereo. Crazy huh. So if someone steals your tv (and you have house insurance), but leaves the remote controll behind, will they pay for the TV?
  7. Thats very ugly.
  8. The top part is ZG, the bottom is a standard air damn like the ones i've seen on loads of american 240z's, but without the brake cooling air intakes.
  9. Mr Camouflage replied to Gav240z's topic in Polls
What about putting vents in the service flap thingos instead of the bonnet. Would have to rig up some sort of drip tray under them for winter, to stop rain soaking the battery. But they are easier to get hold of than bonnets, and cheaper too.
  10. The new ones i bought from nissan for my old 240z 10 years ago started at the bottom front of the door scuff guard thing and went all the way around up the body and back down to the other side of the scuff guard. The ones on my new 240z are the newer style that you were talking about and are in 2 pieces. The 90 degree bend at the corner of the roof and rear window is where the join is. The old ones were moulded in the 90 degree bend, no join.
  11. Not a cartoon, but still funny.
  12. I prefer the original style window door seals. Mine has the later style with the rubber bonded to the metal clip part, and the rubber can come away from the metal, also there are joins at the top. I remember the old style being one piece, all the way round.
  13. Somebody sould alert the cops in the state that this guy is from incase there has been a report of stolen property. How would you feel if it was your shed this guy raided. Fair enough if the truck belongs to his deceased granpa, he might have the right to take it back, but the other stuff might actually belong to someone.
  14. The best way to stop your car rusting is keep it waxed. and as soon as you get a stone chip, fix it. As long as you can keep oxygen away from the metal it wont rust. The only way to stop it rusting completely is store it in a total vacuum. but thats impractical. hmm cars dont rust in outersapce.
  15. Yep thats what happens when you mix oil and water
  16. I ask because my 260z i just bought is still at the po's house, so i cant go and read the casting number. I think it has headers that i'd like to put on my L24 which wont be a problem if they both have the same head.
  17. Anybody know what head the aussie 260z (L26) have? 1975 model. (it has roundtop carbies as standard).
  18. THe zed was gone this morning. Hopefully the owner came back for it.
  19. By the way, anybody going to crash the wa z car club meeting on Sunday July 27, 2003 at Rosie O'Gradys Pub in South Perth, 3:30 pm?
  20. I saw it was still there on the way home from work at 6pm.
  21. I was going to hang on to my spares incase the unthinkable happens. Maybe even build up the 260z after i've finished the 240.
  22. I'd heard that the plastic headlight scoops were used on the earliest 240z only because the factory were having trouble making the metal ones. Once they shored out the tooling they made metal ones. I have a 260z cone on the left side, and a plastic one on the right. both soon to be replaced with metal ones off my 260z parts car.
  23. I'm thinking of getting licence plates that read "not4sale" so i dont come back to my car and find notes left all over it.
  24. Only noticed it this morning. will look again on the way home.
