  1. Hey what a good idea, who thought of that I think the thread should be called 240K and other Datuns though. I wanted to post something about a diff from a 280C.....so its in the drivetrain in the z forums.
  2. Ok its not a r200, but i have a question about a H190. How can I check if its an LSD Diff? The engine doesn't run, and you can spin one wheel freely with one wheel jacked off the ground. But that might just mean the clutches are worn, right? I read on the net that the H190 LSD came out of this model car (1984 Nissan Cedric (280C). but maybe they had open center diffs too. How easy is it to pull the diff center from the banjo housing?
  3. Over Here in Western Australia the its the cops that doing pranks with speed cameras. 2 Police officers covered their heads with white sheets with eye holes cut out. Taped F@#% YOU over the number plate and spead through a 60kph zone doing over 100Kph......... in a police car (unmarked). and they cant get fined for it because the police didn't investigate if and find out who they were untill after the 1 year period that traffic offences can be charged for.
  4. Some 280zx owners in australia lateley have been neglecting to add the X to the end of their cars model number when advertising them for sale. They dont realise that the 280z is a completely different model.
  5. My lower rear transverse link from the a 1972 240z (R180) is Identical to the lower rear transverse link from my 75 260z (R200) (which is the same as a 280z apart form the l26 engine). See pics. The Black painted one is from a R180, The old looking one is from teh R200. Even the upright link that joins it to the chasis are the same.
  6. Back in the 80's the thinking was that you had to have low compression with turbos. Modern thinking is that the dont have to have such low compression that the 1980's engines had.
  7. Speaking of Aus Z's. Theres a couple of 2 seaters for sale for less than $3000 on the ozdat classifieds. None on the west side of the country though.
  8. Make sure you put an air conditioner in it! It's been too damn hot lately for me to get anything done to my Z.
  9. Built your shed yet?
  10. 30 years agoe people spent money on making the cars go faster and handle better. Now they just spend money on making them look like they can go really fast, but dont bother with any performance or handling upgrades. That is how i define a ricer. What with the "horsepower wars" kids had access to all kinds of dangerous machines (true/false?). False. They couldnt afford them. Moden stock standard cars are alot more powerfull than cars 30 years ago cars.
  11. Funny that. I though they added the sound after, like all other movies companies do. It's just a damn whistle that is stuck in the exhaust pipe. It wont make a turbo noise, unless you uually have a turbo mounted in your muffler. As for maing a blow off valve noise. That utter BS. Notice how they say "in some cases". Meaning never in normal operation of your car. If you want to plug you exhasut pipe and increase air resistance and sound like a D@%$head with a whistle in your exhaust pipe, go right a head.
  12. Really. Maybe you should see the video i've seen of a 4wd driving down the road, It gets hit by lightning. I saw it slowed down frame by frame. Hit the car right in the roof.
  13. If its a gas smell (not exhaust), pull the passenger side rear interior panel, and the tail light panel and check the condition of the fuel hoses that run through tthe interior, down to the fuel tank.
  14. Really. What part is wood?
  15. Back half ot the top one, combined with the front half of the bottom pic. The Z looks weird without the front bumper.
  16. Mr Camouflage replied to Z-point's topic in Open Chit Chat
Obsessed. Now if they were pictures of a pop or movie star, you'd get locked up.
  17. I have a spare 260z to cut up. Not sure of the condition of the panels in question, but can take a look. Shipping to the USA might be expensive.
  18. How about getting the under battery tray section from a RHD car Battery is on the other side of the car. No Battery, no rust.
  19. It you signed up for the web space and the url, then that belongs to you. Anything you create and put on that web space is yours. Just because you are part of a club and developed this as the "official" club website doesnt mean that its theirs. All the fan sites for pop stars, bands and movie stars are not owned by the said star/band but they could sue you for using copyrighted material. You might have to stop using their legal trademarks or logo's that are copyrighted, but they cant shut you down. You can make a website about your hobby and the club you are in. For example www.nissan.com belongs to a guy in the USA that sells computers. Nissan tried to sue the guy to get the url (he registered it first). but they didn't win. though the Nissan bloke cant use it to sell his computers anymore.
  20. Because its a rotary you cant reallly comapre the displacement of the engine in the same way as a piston engine ccar. The 13B is actually more equivelent in displacement to a 2.6 litre piston engine than a 1.3 litre.
  21. That wont fit on a 240z without modifying your mounting brackets. unless you make some brackets to line up the 260z grill mounting holes to the 240z grill mounts on the chassis. The 260/280z ones bend up towards the sky. The 240z bend down towards the ground leaving about 2 inches between the mointing points
  22. Replacement? Dont you mean companion.
  23. I just saw a Datsun fairlady (of the non Z variety) this morning in a car park in east perth. Nice lookin one too.
