  1. I didn't realize this until I saw this ad on eBay. Were these the mirrors that came on the Black Pearl? The label on the box indicates that these were standard Datsun accessories and the seller says they were purchased in '78 as "racing" mirrors. I remember the Talbot mirrors being called "Bullet" mirrors. Is that right? And yes, I remember them chrome.
  2. Her Majesty the 26th completed her body spa and dip in Wauchula last summer. All her welding work is complete and she is currently dressed in primer. The floor tar insulation undergarments have been fit and her final dress is having the seams sealed - complete - every body seam throughout the body! What a lot of work! Her engine is fairly complete - a standard rebuild but I had it balanced. I'm looking for an exhaust manifold p/n 14004-E3000. The suspension is all apart and ready to be painted. A whole box of nuts, bolts, and hardware is off having new plating. http://home.earthlink.net/~cwenzel/index.html
  3. Eric, The dash is cracked - just send it out and have it recovered without the indent. http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au/index.htm I think your gear shift boot is the correct one with the rubber ring instead of the leather lace. Your chromed center vent looks good and so does the map light. Nice find!
  4. The mounting hardware looks like the standard door mount.
  5. Ah...the key discussion. Do a search in the archives! Here is what is stock for your car. The silver egg lobe shaped keys are ignition and they come in two different lengths depending on which side of Mt Fugi the sun was on when the ignition was installed. There are three different types of door and deck lid keys. One key should fit the door, deck, and glove box - and again - your car got whatever was being installed that day.
  6. No Luke! I can add a little to this. I am no gearbox guy either, but I do know enough to be dangerous. My US import came with a F4W71A type 4-speed, 3-piece, straight shifter transmission. I believe the synchros are Borg type. I just bought a FS5C71B type that was sold through Datsun Competition in the US as a "close ratio overdrive" 5-speed. It is part number 32010-N3130 and was last shown in the April '96 competition catalog. This same transmission appears in a RHD parts catalog fitting to the 260Z from 11-73 on and superceeding 32010-N3100. My transmission was described to me as having the "Porsche servo style synchros" and they are steel. The gear ratios are: 2.906 / 1.902 / 1.308 / 1.0 / 0.864 The transmission has a pin type shifter and the catalog shows them straight, not bent - I didn't get a shifter with my purchase. It has the internal female type driveshaft connection - the kind that lets all the oil run out on the floor - but it came with a nifty plug designed to fit. I'm told this plug is extremely rare. This transmission listed in the competition parts catalog for just under $1,500 in 1996. Hope this helps!
  7. This is the site I deal with Guus. It is for owners in the Southeast United States. Hope this helps. http://www.datsunroadsters.com/seroc/smain.htm Chris
  8. Who said anything about getting angry?
  9. Huh?! Did you write to him and bitch him out? This is how you subscribe to IZCC. There isn't anything to join. Subscribe to this and you get a ton of e-mails every day. Z-Car List Instructions To Subscribe: Send an e-mail message to: Majordomo@taex001.tamu.edu In the body of the message (leave the subject line blank) put: "subscribe z-car" without the (") quotes, a space and your e-mail address. 10. Good luck! Make sure you post your car with Carl Beck's regisrty. Look forward to pictures. What are your plans with it?
  11. Great poll! I got to vote for each car...err....garage queen!
  12. I have the original sales invoice and window sticker for 26th. I have seen production cards for the 240Z import (HLS30), so I know they exist, but I'm not sure of what you describe as an "owner's card". Your document is probably rare. Pictures!

Greetings Adrian! I'll be watching for your posts. Alan, did you and Ron ever resolve the "top 10" issue from the thread you linked? I have a spare magazine issue. Want it?
  14. I was one of the 7100 odd people who signed the petition and ordered mine this afternoon.

  19. I'm tuned in. Would love to see some pictures. Please look for other markings, paint dabs, or brush strokes. Chances are, the original gloss of the paint surface is present around a stamp like yours. It's always fun to describe the finish. The people who built these cars used a braided cable pull chord to fish the rear wiring harness over the wheel well. 26th still has hers.
  20. This in the morning e-mail from Eastwood. Thought of this thread. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1494&itemType=CATEGORY&iMainCat=688&iSubCat=1494
