  1. I have A11-601 000 in my 78. It's a 5 speed Califronia car FWIW.

No problem, Michael29, the f.i. system on the 280Z and the 280ZX are quite similar in fact the f.i. system on my 810 is probably identical to you ZX. If I can help with a problem that is similar to ones I have encountered with my cars, I don't mind sharing the info. We do have a few members with stong anti ZX feelings but that doesn't represent all of us. I find that amusing considering how many people have ZX parts in their S30s. But Z31s, 32s, 33s are another story alltogether!
  3. Thanks, Andrew, I'll drop him a line. But I bet it would be cost prohibitive to ship from the UK to California in the USA.

Usually, that happens when you have either a leaking cold start valve or a shorted open thermotime switch. Check the terminals on the thermotime switch for continuity when the car is warm. If it has contunuity it's bad and needs to be replaced. If it's good, then remove the two bolts that hold the cold start valve and lift it high enough to clear the intake manifold and place the nozzle in a small container. Again with the engine warm, start the car and check if you can see any fuel leaking into the container. If you do, replace the cold start valve.
  5. I hate to invade this forum for this but it's just part of an ongoing search for a wheel that I've not been able to locate. Did this wheel ever show up on any of the Australian Datsuns?

I try not to answer posts like this because there are so many possibilities. Is that belt binding on the frozen pulley? If so, that would make it hard to start. You're not even sure if it's the air pump. Sitting for six years? There are so many possible issues that could cause the car not to start. Sometimes, you can open up the air pump and free it up unless the bearings are toast. But, based on your description of the problem, it's like a doctor trying to diagnose over the phone with a patient that doesn't have an understanding of the symtoms.
  7. Hadn't seen that before. ROFL
  8. I'll simplify my honest opinion of a S30 with Z32 headlights by saying that it just isn't something we do here. If you'll read through some of the old posts you'll see that we are not really into modifications such as Ferrari kits, Pantera rear windows, convertibles, or anything that changes the basic look of the S30. That picture would be more welcomed on HydridZ, Zdriver, ZCar.com or any of the other sites that lean more towads the later model "Z".
  9. If you have access to a vacuum pump, connect it to the inlet on the booster and see if it holds. If it doesn't it's bad.
  10. Are you talking about the 'Gross Vehicle Weight' on the tag? That includes the car, passengers, and cargo.
  11. I, too, sent an email questiong the 62 Ferrari registration and the acquisition fee/registration thing so, we'll see!:devious:
  12. I wonder what the real reason they changed their eBay user name since you can't find any info under the old name.

I earned a B.A. in Music Arranging, Scoring, and Conducting. Worked 35 years as a Grocery Clerk and then retired, got bored and went to work as the Receiver at ACE Hardware. Played the Saxophone, Piano and drove Datsuns all my adult life. So, I never really grew up either!:classic:

Bill, how about 'Some high school?'
  15. Thanks, Craig. I was going to make a similar comment along with an opinion but it would have probably been deleted!
  16. Don't need another one, I already have 13! Actually that avitar picture is the decal that's on my L320 oil cap.
  17. Is there a sharp edge on the barb that goes into that particular hose? Or is it bent? Otherwise, I'm having a problem figuring out why it blows just that one. If the fuel pressure was too high, I would think more that one hose would be affected. I've changed hoses on both my F.I. cars and have never experienced that.
  18. Symon, I'm 6'2" and sitting in Les's Silvia was a little cramped. But not as cramped as my 1964 L320 pickup. I think you'll be okay.
  19. Bill, a 10/71 build date would make it a 72 .
  20. If you mean the five-slots that are on the red Z in your gallery, they are aluminum not steel. In which case use an aluminum polish like Mother's, Blue Magic, etc. They're all pretty much the same chemicals. The rims pictured aren't as intricate as some others so they won't be as hard to polish. The more you buff them, the shinier they'll get. I actually like the results of hand buffing. I used my bench grinder with a buffing wheel (and many hours of work!) to polish a set of 'Iron Cross' ZX wheels to look like chrome. When I put them on my Z, I just didn't like the look. The hand polished look is more of a satin type shine which I feel suits the early Z better. Take a look at Victor Laury's car. Just my opinion.
  21. Let me see . . . black bra, see-trough headlight covers, fur (sheepskins), and I know how to turn her on . . . . :devious:
  22. Actually, I got the 'Corvair' feeling while viewing the 2+2 Silvia prototype on the Silvia site. I wonder whatever happened to the LHD Silvia prototype cars? Maybe Alan T. would know.
  23. Is it just me or does the Silvia resemble the ill-fated Chevrolet Corvair?
