  1. I was able to play it fine, gspot read the video stream as being divx 5.0, you might have an older divx codec installed if you are having trouble. http://www.divx.com/divx/ Cool vid though! Andrew
  2. Victor, You might try getting some foam baffle type cover for the microphone, sort of like the microphones mounted on motorcycle helmets for the riders to talk to each other.
  3. Does anyone have firsthand experience with that 303 stuff? http://www.303products.com/main.php?infopage=protectant
  4. I wonder, has anyone ever found a good swap-out on the temp gauge internals for something more accurate? A digital gauge(or aftermarket for that matter) looks very out of place in a 240z!
  5. Agreed, it feels like you have no real connection with the car. An automatic is ok for a family sedan or a truck, but in my opinion, you would have to be nuts to want an automatic in a sports car you planned on driving for fun in anything but a straight line.
  6. The link doesnt work, the extension should just be .htm http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/ZXPertronix.htm
  7. I'm pretty new to working on cars so i'm kinda curious, what is the advantage of adjusting the valves while the engine is hot? If you adjust them to the correct "cold specs" is it going to be as good as a quick job(before the engine cools too much) adjusting them to the "hot specs?"

  9. Thanks for the replies guys, I will try out what you guys suggested. I am really looking forward to working on this once the summer semester is over. I think i'm probably going to spend most of my next paycheck on getting myself setup with some good metric craftsman tools, they have a 140 piece metric mechanic set that seems like a good start. I'm tired of these taiwan-made tools i've been using over the years! None of the sizes ever seem to be quite as snug as the few craftsman pieces I have around, and they certainly aren't near as durable. Andrew
  10. I bought a rebuilt e88 with new guides, steel seats and everything. It has no cam, cam towers, no rockers fit to it so I was planning on moving those parts from another e88 (taking care to remember what rocker came from where). I was reading up and all the manuals I have recommended marking the cam tower position since they have to be fit in an exact position, but I don't really have access to the kind of tools they were recommending if these marks are not there:stupid:. I may just take both heads to a shop and ask them to do it. How much do you think that should cost to do so I don't get ripped off? Or is there any way for me to do this on my own? Andrew
  11. Since you have a 72 the webbing of the lap belt would be a PITA to replace, so I guess you are stuck with dyeing it there. You could probably take the shoulder segment to some upholstery shop and have them replace it with something that looks pretty original though. Andrew

  14. I also like the members for the same reasons carguyinok gave. A lot of other forums have the equivalent of a guy who only owns/drives a ford pinto giving you his opinion on what its like to own a ferrari 250gto. About the chat, can the channel be somehow accessed with an IRC client? I would like to idle in there, but it's a pain to leave that browser window open waiting for someone to join in, especially when noone is in there at the time. I already idle in a lot of channels with my irc client, so it would be pretty convenient. I think a lot of other members would find it useful to be able to leave an irc client running (for those with an always-on connection), to go and check out what was going on while they were out working on their Z. Andrew
  15. Just got done watching "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas, 2 Zs that I saw. One outside the fast food restaurant as he is walking in, and another outside Mr. Yi's market when Prendergast goes back to look around.
  16. That's pretty low, I would probably just have waited until I could contact whoever had authority over the property now and made an offer on the 'piles of rusting junk' in their barn. Sure they might say no, but that's life. It's just an engine, despite the historical appeal and all around coolness, I don't think I could sleep at night after quite possibly robbing someone else.
  17. Some people have been swapping out late 80s-early 90s honda civic blower motors which move a lot more air. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2780&highlight=honda+civic+blower

The previous owner installed some cheap Jensen CD deck and wired up the antenna to go up when the deck was turned on and down when it goes off. I plan on installing some sort of new cd mp3 deck after I get around to getting an alarm or some other theft detterent installed. I will try and take note of how the previous owner wired it up and if anyone is interested I will try my best to report back here with what I find when I get around to that stage. I think I may just wire up a switch and mount it someplace like the ashtray in my console for the antenna since I really never listen to the radio except maybe once every few months. I mainly stick to CDs and having that antenna sticking up kinda ruins the lines of the car IMHO. :cheeky:

Thanks for the reply beandip, I think i'll pass on this one, I've seen a few other heads for sale and will be looking into them next. While we are on the subject, how much does an assembled head weigh in at? I've been quoted between $25 and $35 for shipping from various parts of the country on cylinder heads, if I knew the weight maybe I could get an idea about shipping cost on my own from a given area without needing to wait on the seller. Thanks, Andrew
  20. Looks like he did it himself(from the pictures of him spraying his car), so i'm guessing cost of paint and equipment.

Just out of curiosity, what are the original wrappings around the fuel lines in goose's 260Z made from? Asbestos seems to come to mind, not sure though.
  22. Very nice!
