I bought one from advance for a little over $100 a couple of years ago, I wonder why they went up so much? Anyway go to retailmenot.com and look at advances coupon codes. You can get 30% off anything in the store. I use them weekly it seems like. When I bought mine they had free shipping to my house. Brass and aluminum 3 row, great radiator. Like Zed Head said I had to knock off a couple of mounting tabs and put a bolt in the bottom mounted plastic drain. That was a "not when but how soon" problem knocking it off. Carquest I think was the make. I'm on my phone now but in the morning I can look up the order and get a part number. I know for sure it wasn't more than $150.
  2. I just stumbled on what you need Guy. A Porsche GTT 115. If you'd let me live on it I promise to keep it clean, no parties.
  3. They're hard to work on though!
  4. If your's won't go into any gear it's most likely what Zed head and Diseazed said above, you need the taller collar. Mine would go into a few but pop out of the rest when I released the clutch. Anyway, here's what fixed mine. Here's the attachments I found. The Sharpie circles are where it was hitting. I ground those spots down. And the fix for me.
  5. Very nice work! Your Grandfather is smiling.
  6. @Jeff G 78 how's that 993? Stupid question, just touching base. Cliff
  7. If the taller collar doesn't let it go in gear you may have the same thing I ran into when I put a zx 5 speed in my 240. The shift rod had to be ground a little above the pivot ball on bottom. It wouldn't go in 4th and reverse I think. I'll find the thread and post it in the morning just in case that might have some interference as well.
  8. The only difference I can think of right off is the way the cam is lubricated. The N42 has a spray bar and solid cam. The P90 turbo has a "oiler cam", hollow with holes on each lobe to lubricate. My N42 has a ZX oiler cam installed, works great.
  9. Anybody that knows a 240 has to ask that same question. They're a work of art, inside and out of the car.
  10. A lot of skunks on this interstate, South I-75.
  11. Ah, okay he fooled me talking in 3rd person. I see it now. You had a 233Z for awhile.
  12. Where did the OP mention a spark plug was blown out? I missed that I guess.
  13. We might try a Dollar Store slightly acidic white vinegar soak?

Is it paint or dye? I've got the same hatch fade as his, outside paint fade, bumper fade, cracked dash, missing "5speed" emblem and on and on. I'd like to darken my carpet though, it's in good shape just not black anymore. I've got the same car if you want some comparison photos. I think it's around 333,000 vin#? Mine's original but severely faded, no rust though. Build date 09/'76.
  15. Good news! 2 months isn't bad, did you advertise anywhere else? I'm ready to think about selling my setup.
  16. Damn skunks!

That one probably has the "new car smell" unlike all the rest that have the Datsun Z smell, very distinctive to all that have smelt it. Really weird how they do that, I'd like to know if it's the carpet or the plastic or what. A guy was looking at mine the other day at the gas station and said "smells just like my Dad's from when I was a kid".
  18. My Dad always used the flannel covers for inside storage. MSA has a nice custom fit one that I DO NOT own but it looks nice. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic06g here's what I've been looking at, they are very popular car cover suppliers on the internet. Once again I don't own one yet but they look good and are custom fit supposedly. I'd call to make sure these are custom one mirror covers for our cars. http://www.beverlyhillsautocovers.com/car-covers.html?find=1972-nissan-240z-base-4223352 Let us know what you end up getting and how you like it. That's my next Christmas present to myself.
  19. I'll vote alternator issue. Hope it's an easy fix so you can get back to the carbs. I enjoy reading those, lots of info for mine when I get the courage.
  20. You missed it! Google "zcon2017 austin". Next year it's north of Atlanta. Big fun too.
  21. Too much oil is bad too. Leak around the pan gasket and the oil pump. Learned that the hard way. ZX turbo oil pump with just a spray bar, bad choice.
  22. I see a lot of cars with inop brake lights. That middle light keeps me from rear ending those cars. Seems like they're not on all the new cars now days? Twenty years ago every car had one. Speaking of lights, motorcycles have some wacky things going on now. I always had the small flush mounts on mine but I've crashed more than Evel Kinevel so I'm paying for my younger coolness now. The good ole days weren't so good!
  23. I always say it advances the timing for better efficiency but I'm no mechanic, just a guy with a bunch of tools. Google it.
  24. That's the distributor's advance. Mine goes on the front carb, closest to the radiator. Looking down at the carb on the backside of the dome to the left is a nipple.
  25. Agree with Zed H. My old ZX dizzy's ball bearings from the vacuum advance weights slung out and were stuck to the magnets on the stator. Pull your cap off and look around, you probably will see some ball bearings. I bought a nice reman one from amazon.com for $100 a couple of years ago. No cap or rotor button included with it though. I put in a '79 ZX manual transmission in the "make sure it fits" boxes on amazon and they sent me the best one according to that excel spreadsheet. I wanna say D 06 was part of the number???
