  1. I'm a politician. Wait a minute! I am NOT a politician. That's more truthful.
  2. Y'all are getting in the "no helment" debate for motorcycle riders. I don't want an iron in the fire but I wouldn't through my leg over a bike without a full face helmet on. Me, my personal choice. I still have shards of glass that work their way to the top of my eyebrow from a wreck in 2001 and that was a crash with Ray Bans on.
  3. I'm sorry Mr Arnett, I was wrong. Imagine that! The 240s are black with no overspray, just a little rust. Mine is still 1972 except the motor and transmission. They have been reworked. 280s seem to be unpainted, zinc coating?
  4. The inside of the tailpipe would be all sooty if it's fuel related. Like spark plugs, check those too they will tell a lot.
  5. Were the horns black then got body color over spray? That's what my early '72 looks like.
  6. That's my lift spot too when I'm HF jacking off. The squarish middle of the front crossmember. The low profile fits nicely under my front spoiler on my lowered car. Very light weight too. Grab it up and go, no problem. Handle pops out for going in the hatch or trunk of my Camry.
  7. That's like 280zforsale.com and 240zforsale.com. Opportunist jumping on anything to make some quick money. Those guys search craigslist and find cars then bug the $^!# out the original poster trying to get around craigslist internal email system that goes directly to the owner. All their listings are cross listings from other sites. They listed one of my 240s with a phone number in Michigan. Do a backwards image search on one of the cars and you'll see. Hold down S and right click.
  8. California Datsun publication?
  9. The best. Screw house jacks. They're high though but my old concrete slab garage floor shifts with the weather.
  10. My thinking is/was buy a low profile aluminum jack from HF. Spend on the best jack stands you can. They will save your life. The jack, not so much. It'll loose pressure and start dropping as quick as the last pump so you'll know quick.
  11. Good money spent before the end of the year. Your accountant will be happy.
  12. You can't have nothing!

You may have read this already, if so I'm sorry but it's a good read. There's some camo paint too, @Zed Head. It's my "olive" colored branch to you sir.
  14. Recent events find this version redundant. Very redundant
  15. That Jethro could sure play that flute! Ole Pink had a great voice too.
  16. Memories of older bikes is what we love. You ain't hijack nothing! What a great story to share. Thank you! I know my 2 stroke KX80 had a "powerband" in the exhaust that acted like a turbo at high rpms. From what I remember there was some vales in the exhaust pipe that opened up at high revs allowing like an open exhaust pipe. Giving them some more gitty up an go. Lots of flipped bikes and sore asses from those powerbands.
  17. An easier way would be use a piece of pvc with rubber caps on each end. I had a bunch of thinner so I used what I has handy.
  18. I used a piece of PVC tube with lacquer thinner. Worked good after soaking a couple off days. Then blew it out with my air compressor. If you ever have to paint a bunch of staircase balusters this the way to go, BTW.
  19. Well SOB! I made my offer, he didn't accept now it's gone. Probably for the best knowing my history with two wheeled go fast things.
  20. I like oatmeal pie!
  21. Thank you Mr Arnett! Happy New Year to you and loved ones. I've read about that before, possibly you? I will study up on this and possibly stay original and use the wire in a way such as you. Thank you again for all your help. Cliff
  22. I really need to do that replacement. I took the horn pad out of the car and brought it inside my house. Darn thing started falling off on the smallest bumps in the road. Then gets under my pedals and trying to move with a 240 seatbelt on is immposdible. They do not give any at all. I can't even use the radio while I'm driving. But I do like that feeling, kind of race car-ish.
  23. You could have a lash pad that fell off. Happens more than you'd think and makes a helluva ticking noise. Easy to put back on too.
  24. No, they're the chrome ones from Vietnam. Bought them from futofab.com on a Black Fiday sale 5 years ago? and they look great. I highly recommend those and futofab. But he's on the right coast so shipping was a lot less for me. There's others that sale them, zcardepot.com right off the top of my head. Those stainless ones are from the Harrington group I think. They're a good bit more costly too. I also bought new brake light combo buckets from futofab. Love those too. They have the orange lens on bottom, European spec I believe but they look mighty good on my orange car. Check out... https://www.futofab.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=67
