280ZX Stalls and Restarts an Hour Later
To add to Zed Head's informative post. A cheap can of keyboard cleaning spray, $.99, is a good cooling spray. The magnetic do hickey. Good read on rebuilding one, lots of info. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributorrebuild/index.html

72 240z choke handle
Don't know if you've seen this already but it's a pretty neat read on the choke handles. I learned something new for the day.

Unbelievable
SCRANTON, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man has been charged with homicide after admitting to cutting the brakes of his girlfriend’s car so he could obtain a metal pipe to use to smoke crack cocaine, police said. Jenkins thought cutting anything under the vehicle would be fine for smoking crack, although he has no knowledge of cars, according to reports.

It's up for sale again!
You'll end up buying it! That '77 won't last too long at the rate you are going.

Slalom grind cam
I agree with Zed, most likely a broad powerband cam profile. I've always read that EFI 280s don't do too well with a "hot" cam.

78 280z Severe Driving Problems
I'll let the smart members read all the charts but when my '77 had very similar problems I was able to fix it for a $5 volume knob from Radio Shack. Mine ran like crap up to about 2,500RPM then pull really good. Here's where i got the idea. Many have done this so hopefully they can offer better advice. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tempsensorpot/index.html I think you'll need the thermotine sensor to function. That could be the reason for the rich exhaust fumes.

New member, long time lurker
Welcome to the forum. It's a great way to pass the time when the TV makes you miserable. Congratulations on your gift. I wish I could do that but I'm stingy with my toys. My Mother can hardly get out of mine. Not because she likes it so much but because it's so low to the ground. And boy do I hate the way she slams the door but it takes her back to an earlier time and I can buy another window.

I forgot Sweaty's theme for this thread, "relaxing with a few PBRs", sorry.

Rust Advice 78 280z
I agree with Charles. You can spend a ton of money and time "while your at it". Mine aren't award winners but I could drive them from coast to coast without worry. Probably wear a gas mask to keep from falling asleep though.

Rubber grommet removal
EDIT, I'm sorry 240zrubberparts. I jumped the gun, mine look different than yours. I read from the bottom, up. Those look like the ones I bought locally at the dealership, next day of course. They fit the two holes at the bottom of the deck lid. ID is about 1 1/2". OD is at 1 3/4". Ask really nicely availability on the number. Sometimes they are surprised and say they'll have it tomorrow. Good luck.

Should buff out
That's why we have two. One for driving and one for folded clothes.

When it's running again pinch the fuel lines, checking to see how hard they are. If you can squeeze them fairly easy then there's low pressure. Check the supply to the fuel filter side and then the output to the fuel rail. Won't add any cost to that high price you paid.

- Bolts, washers, lock washers
I bought that bolt kit for my rebuild. It's labeled and individual packing made it a breeze putting things back together. I will say some of the bolts are too long and bottom out so be careful when torquing. I remember the oil pump bolts specifically. The manifold studs have allen wrench fittings on the ends for a good tight install. keep your old bolts for comparison and use anti seize to smooth out the new stainless threads. They are a bit course compared to the OE bolts.- Carb Pre-Heater Duct Hose

Hey there. The site is still up, http://datsunzgarage.us/ Thanks @w3wilkes- datsunzgarage
There's a very good and friendly member here that copied all that stuff. He's a computer guy named @heyitsrama I think! If it's not him I can find it when I'm back home, he posted it in a thread I replied to.- Oil pressure gauge
Sounds like it's going to ground, or more sensibly sounding not going to ground. here's good read. No teflon tape and bad sending units abound.- Oil pressure gauge
Mine doesn't do that, 240 or the 280. They stay down like the temp gauge.- Rear Bumper Installation questions
I put a set of chrome bumpers on mine from futofab and am very happy with them. The rear sides were a little bit of a pain getting the bolts lined up. I used small rubber washers between the paint and the mounting flats to keep from scratching. Bought stainless carriage bolts from Lowes and buffed them up to match the chrome. I would've sworn they were from Vietnam but they could've come from Taiwan? It was written on the boxes but as usual I took no photos of the trash but plenty of them once they were mounted. I bought mine on black Friday and got a good deal. No rubber, no holes just thin chrome bumpers. - Bolts, washers, lock washers
