  1. Thanks Steve! I may get some pliers. I remember using a deep socket to tap mine down but I didn't feel completely confident so I went with OE seals. I used the Fords as a practice run on an e88. Sometime soon I'll be putting them on an e31 with a high lift cam. Your private messaging still works the same I suppose? Many questions I'll be asking, I'm sure.
  2. How did you figure the valve seals were down far enough without creating that bulge? We talked about a few years ago and I used a certain height with feeler gauges. You said you were going to make some type of spacer maybe?
  3. My turn! Excuses, like a knee jerk. Ding their brain then hear them blame and complain. That's my gripe with young people today. Thanks!
  4. Hopefully it cured enough. The directions say until the smell is gone. A lot of radiator shops that do them bake them to speed it up. I used a leaf blower and sat mine in the sun for a week then it wasn't smelly. If you use a clear filter before the fuel rail, I like before the main one myself it's easiest, it should show trash pretty quick. Good luck! Reading along but can't add with these guys. They are good.
  5. Amazon Prime = frequent flier points. Looks good!
  6. That's hydraulic hose. Not fuel hose. Replace all of it, with 1400 psi on it, asap.
  7. When the filter's screen gets clogged from suction it'll run poorly. When that falls away it'll run good for a bit then repeats. I used that red liner too, Red Kote. But it needs to cure, as Patcon says, for at least a week, the longer the better. Put a fram G-2 before the main filter under the hood. Frams are $3, OE metal ones are $15.
  8. Have you checked for a crudded up gas tank? Ran great for a few minutes is one of the top symptoms. My car would make it halfway around the block then I walked the other half.
  9. Here's my favorite rear finisher color side by side comparison. Post number 14. Thanks @CanTechZ And this one too!
  10. Could you try teflon tape to increase the OD before powder coat?
  11. Well that's cool as hell! My first punk cassette tape. Then Devo, The Cramps, then Fear and I was and still am a punk.
  12. Isn't there a small hole before the throttle plate that needs to be filled in as well? @Captain Obvious
  13. No mosquitoes.
  14. I had a big vacuum leak that took a while to find. It was where the EGR tube connects to the intake closest to the fire wall. It had come loose and over time the hot gases from the EGR rotted away the aluminum intake. It was close to the size of a golf ball. Here's a picture after the fact but you'll see if it's loose or not. You might see it best with a handheld mirror? It's on the underside, the picture was taken with the old one on my bench. Here's a better picture showing the general location. After some coffee I realize now the tube was most likely the one from the exhaust. I honestly don't remember
  15. Good Ole Quint. 99 bottles of beer on the wall...
  16. He drinks Natural Light. You'll be okay.
  17. I liked the Black Diamond for stripping paint, plus the texture on some things. You can strain it and reuse it a couple of times. 50lbs for $10. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/black-diamond-fine-blasting-abrasives
  18. I'm going to guess the machinest checked the cam's movement before he put the valve train on. $300 should cover something that simple.
  19. I'm sure that's what I have on my car because I don't an extra on my Datsun parts rack. It may be a good idea to check further. Maybe @Diseazd would know fairly easy?
  20. Side seals are at the bottom of this image. The bottom receipt.
  21. I tried to find that image Zed Head but couldn't, thank you. When I lifted off the clutch pedal to coast up to a stop mine would stick around 1,500 to 2,000 rpm for about 15 seconds then drop down to normal. I adjusted the BCDD in just a quick ride through my neighborhood. When you get that locking clip thing off leave it at home and find some stop signs. Leave the hood loose too. Turn it one way and see if it gets better or worse. It's really easy. Mine also had a sticky gas pedal feel that would hang up or down. I cleaned the throttle body bottom under the throttle blade with a toothbrush and lacquer thinner.
