  1. What fuse are you replacing? You may just have a corroded light socket somewhere. The side markers are bad about holding water behind the lense and rusting out the socket.
  2. Do your gauges work? I lost those and a bunch of lights and it was popping the IGN fuse as soon as I turned the key. The car was running but I had a bad alternator that was "back feeding current through the ignition"? Another problem I had some years ago was no dash lights, my combo switch had gone bad. The way they are made every time you turn on the lights it archs on the plates internally. I fixed it myself, it was a bitch but I have more time than money. This is what I went by, http://www.kamikazeracing.org/dl/ZTech/Rebuild_240Z_combo_switch.pdf And here's a picture that shows the contact points. You might could talk to Mr Irwin about rebuilding yours. Click on "services", http://datsun-240z-upgrades.net/ Good luck!
  3. You mean you can't pull the fuel supply line and from the pump and suck fuel up, like syphoning gas? If that's the case can you blow back towards the tank and here a bubbling noise? When I bought a 240 it would run to the end of my street and quit. I could pull the line off and blow back through it and clear the trash out then it run run long enough to make it back home. I had a cruddy gas tank.
  4. Backfiring usually means it's a little rich. Have you checked to make sure the chokes aren't hanging up, are they shutting off and moving freely? Sometimes the the push/pull cables get loose and they won't shut them completely off. It may be in that linkage. Just guessing, good luck.
  5. Can you pull the hose closest to the fuel rail, stick in a container and crank until fuel comes up? That way it would have nothing blocking the flow to cause any air pockets.
  6. Thomas after I win I'll give you my chrome plating credit. There's only one thing I need chromed and it would hurt like hell.
  7. $26,000 Best of luck to you too. And thank you for bringing back the humor and lightheartedness we are used to. 8^)
  8. Didn't Young Frankenstein have that phrase too?
  9. Mike may get mad but if you google search and put "classiczcars" at the end, especially if you include the members name before that you'll always get your query answer without going through the word search. I hate seeing every post with "seat" highlighted.
  10. What is it? Sounds as though 26th needs one. But nay, I could be misinterpreting that as sarcasm?
  11. Sorry Hardway, I found it. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44331-diy-how-to-recover-your-z-seats-lots-of-pictures/
  12. @Hardway Has a great write up on seat r&r
  13. Congratulations! I had been wondering where you've been until I saw your car for sale. I'm selling a 240 on craigslist right now and as the saying goes you get what you pay for, so I'm thinking of trying ebay and paying the fees. $10K, that's good money.
  14. Or maybe some kind of guard for the blower motor? The contour of the bottom looks similar but without knowing the distance from the bolt holes I'm just guessing. Where's Waldo type a thing.

    Heck yeah!
  16. After rebuilding my 2.4 my gauge would peg out on the high side. After a couple hundred miles it lowered at idle. If the oil pressure is excessive will it blow the dipstick out? I'm thinking it's not in the same lines as the oil pressure sending unit so it wouldn't blow out. The pressure overflow valve under the filter was nice and springy feeling so I think I'm okay, I've never seen one peg the gauge like mine did though. Car runs fine after at least 500 miles, just curious. Thanks!
  17. I replaced mine with high heat crimp on connectors. There is no rubber or plastic on them. And like Chuck said I closed them up for a sure tight fit.
  18. That's a really nice looking car you have. I wish I was closer. I'd sell him my #110 red '72 240Z. EDIT: You might want to do a google search on Slick's Garage before giving him your keys, he's been in a lot of trouble. https://www.google.com/search?q=Slick's+Garage&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=Slick's+Garage&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  19. Are "they" saying that from experience? We used to fill water guns with hot water and spray people walking down Bourbon Street from the balcony at the daiquiri bar I worked at. We would tell them it was wizz and they tried their damndest to get up there but no way, we had security guarding the bathrooms and stairway up there. I've never seen drunk guys get so mad after getting "peed" on and not able to do a damn thing about it. We could do anything to the drunks. We gave the cops free slices anytime they wanted and when a drunk person complained about us they went to jail. It was hilarious watching from behind the bar with security. So I guess it was better to get pissed off and walk away.
  20. They got caught up in the excitement of ZCON.
  21. Those women were robbed and raped by the time we got to see them run.
  22. It has '72 also. http://www.classiczcars.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=62258
  23. If it's a reman from a chain store it could be faulty. Happened to me a few months ago. Took it back and had it tested, FAILED, they overnighted another one and I had them test before I left the building. It PASSED and shows 13.75 at 900 RPM with nothing on but the spark plugs.
  24. I wonder why they decided on a beetle as their namesake/brand image? Fast doesn't come to mind when I think of a June bug.
