  1. I'm not sure I would trust that the length of spacer tube they use for the poly bushings is the same length as the ones that come with the rubber. I measured the length of the tube in this AC Delco kit to be 1.813 inches (46mm) long. You can compare that to the tube from your poly bushings: And by the way, this Delco kit is still available from Rock Auto, and I think it's very high quality for an excellent price.
  2. Nice. Great simple mod to get away from hard to find parts. I love that kind of change.
  3. That's really interesting. I guess it could come down to the pump's internal design. So was the new pump the same brand and style as the old one? Good sleuthing!
  4. Glad to help. Just remember that this is a sample size of exactly one gauge so far. No guarantees that others will be exactly the same. I'm not going to pull my fuel gauge out of my dash to do the same measurements, but I should be able to power it up through the dash connectors above the passenger's knee. I'll do that one when I get a chance to see how similar it is to the one on my bench. My fuel gauge in the car isn't accurate, but I haven't even determined yet if the issue is in the dash or in the tank.
  5. Dave, I took some sender resistance vs needle position measurements off a spare fuel gauge I just picked up. Granted, this is a sample size of one, but here's; what I got. Here's "running on fumes" empty at 100 Ohms: Here's "just topped off" full at 10 Ohms: And here's a whole bunch of points along the scale:
  6. So is he skittish about getting involved with another Z guy after getting stiffed on that 76?
  7. Thanks for the additional pics. Still thinking those intake runners would really look sweet on an L6 engine. Maybe you can do some show-n-tell of the BMW stuff when I'm in the area for Zcon?
  8. Sounds like it's something to do with the bulbs that are dimmed with the knob. One of the dash illumination bulbs shorted inside? One of the sockets shorted inside? Wiring fault? Pinched green/white somewhere to ground? What year are we talking here?
  9. Nice pool pic. Can you spot "your" chaise lounge from there? You know... The one you got stuck to all day Saturday and burned to a crisp?
  10. Great. Thanks for the fuel rail pics. Looking at the intake manifold runners, they didn't do any Siameseing of the cylinders like they did with the Z, did they? They didn't have to because it's a flow through DOHC head instead of having both intake and exhaust on the same side? And that tank looks great.
  11. One of my best as well!! Was that really a year ago??
  12. Wait, I have another idea. Maybe the problem isn't the valve cover at all. Maybe it's the motor mounts. I'm thinking if you put the mounts on the other way to rotate the whole thing 180 degrees and use a dry sump oil system? That... just... might... work! OK, I'm done now. CapO out.
  13. Haha! All seven isn't necessary. One will suffice. I promise it'll run better. So, is that seriously how someone put that thing together? As a joke, or do you think they really didn't know better? Or do you think they were just looking for a place to hold the carbs so they weren't flopping around during transit?
  14. I can see the problem easy. It's the wrong valve cover for that engine. If you send me the 2400 cover, I'll send you back the right one. You just cover shipping?
  15. Now that's the kind of info that makes this place wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
  16. Walter, Glad to see you're OK. Limit the screen time and do what the Dr. orders. I just didn't see any action from you and the last thing you posted included mention of a concussion. Just a little concerning that you went quiet. I'm not local to you, but if there's anything I can do from a distance, don't hesitate to ask.
  17. So there's a lot of chatter on this thread, but one person is conspicuously absent... Walter. I hope he's doing OK. Is there anyone in his local area that can check in and make sure? Ask if there's anything the Z community can do to help out right now?
  18. Sorry, I wasn't implying that it was all about the bling. Without the attempted humor, what I meant was... If you exhaust other alternatives and are completely stuck without a replacement, I'll make one. It's just expensive. But I do carve the distribution blocks out of what some would call billet. I'm surprised with how few options there are too. I guess that most people convert over to the internally oiled cams and get rid of the bar completely? It sounds like you found a suitable replacement?
  19. Haha! Well if the owner is really desiring "billet" bling, send me PM. Bling $$ for something that not everyone has is something I can do.
  20. You'll never get one of the early versions to hold together. It's really a botched design. The new version, however, is fine. I've never researched the timeline to figure out when exactly they changed it. My only data point is my old 260 built in 3/74 had the old style bar.
  21. Yes... Yes it is. And I think you're out of your mind, yet wish you the best of luck, all at the same time.
  22. Please. I know it's far fetched, but that would be a neat project. One of those "just because you can" kind of things.
  23. I think so too. I don't know how much he's holding out for, but I'm still surprised he's got a reserve somewhere over 58K. I'm half torn between the two mindsets of A) "More power to ya!! The higher you can drive the price, the better for all of us" and B) the seeming arrogance of turning away a bid of just under $60K for that car.
  24. Yup, That's the early and later version. I'm sure they're both NLA from Nissan, but they pop up on ebay. I certainly can't make a replacement for anywhere near the $60 that those sold for. If you can find one of the newer versions for sixty bucks, buy it!
