  1. If your car is good then find the turbo motor get it swap motors then sell the other car to get some of your money back . Or just junk it.
  2. The only thing that could make this project unworthwhile would be too much rust. I was reading in another forum about your rust probs. Make sure you have a solid car first before you start putting $$$ into it. Look at your floorpans, frame rails, make sure there isn't holes, Or very bad rust. If there is you can buy replacement parts. If there is just too much the only option may be just to hunt another car down if you want to get serious about performance. If you can post pics of your car and I'm sure other members can help you. PS if you gotta hunt another car down find a 240z (if not a 280z), my OPINION is that the early Z just feels much more Z like. If not find a 280zx turbo.:devious:
  3. Don't sweat it being new, thats what this site is for. Also if you do some searches in the search menus you can find other threads on the same subject. I noticed an error in my last post. I said you could transplant the engine to 70-78 Zs but you can also transplant them into 79-83 Zxs also!! Even your ZX. Also i fixed one of the links in my last post. Hey since you drive a ZX you will love this one!!! http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/280zxt/
  4. There are 2 kinds of 81-83 280zxs. A turbo model and a non-turbo model. The common thing to do is to swap the engine from the turbo model (L28Et) and drop it into the Z car of Choice( any 70-78 Zcar) You can keep your existing tranny and drivetrain if you want. The L28et is desighned for turbo applications and the non-turbo engine isn't. Its alot cheaper to find an engine(in a junkyard or more preferrabley from a runnning turbo ZX auto models are real cheap sometimes) and get it installed. Other options also include buying a already built up engine for lots of dough: Check these links out: http://www.zcarperformance.com http://www.geocities.com/spized1969/ Most of these sites feature the early Z but you can swap an L28et(turbo 280zx motor) into your ZX!!
  5. bet ya have an auto though. I'd like to keep my manual. It's actually cheaper to go L28et. The Z drivetrain can handle the extra HP.
  6. Remember a jedi gets his power from the force flowing through. Not Twin turbos...J/K! I'm a hypocrite, cause i'm an L28et fan.
  7. 2manyzs is being seduced by the dark side of the Z force!! !!

  9. Either have I(except a Z31 in bad shape) but i'm gonna L28ET my 78 and find out one day.
  10. I know the 70 &71 are lighter. One main difference I think. I know when its time for me to buy another 240z I want a 70/early 71.
  11. I need that too I have several manuals but none have a decent wiring diagram. Electrical probs. were so much easier to trouble shoot in my 240, even without the diagram. Blasted late early Z.(if that makes sense:cross-eye)
  12. AAAWWWSOOMME Avatar ZMEfly!!!! WHOOOOSH!!! And the ZX is gone.
  13. you mean this..... (compliments of that ozzy guy) http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4847&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 More info here... http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html
  14. here is the plate. My other late 73 had an N36 too. Maybe late 240zs and 260z had these manifolds.
  15. Well my 73 240z (soon to belong to texas z)has it and it was manufactured in 10/72.

  17. one thing i will try is to drag it along my long driveway to see if that frees them. (my mission is to have the brakes unfrozen when before owner arrives) That sounds like it might work. Plan B: I guess i'm probably gonna get out a nice heafty hammer and knock the crap out of the drums trying to get them off. Then i'll see if i can bang out the brake pads on the frozen caliper.
  18. rust could be the issue i'll give it a try, but just a few months ago they were working properly.(i was driving it)
  19. I have a 73 240z and the brakes are all locked up at 3 corners. I just need to be able to get this car on a trailer since the next owner is just going to use it for parts. Since the car doesn't free roll putting it on a trailer will be difficult it seems. Any ideas or suggestions? Is there a way i could free up the brakes by removeing pressure from the system or somthing?
  20. OUCH!!!!!!!!!! thats bad....bad..
