When the tranny gets tilted at a sever angle the fluid will leak out. Wait until its back in the car to fill it.

Thanks Then yes, its in backwards Will probably work better the other way! 😉
  6. Not necessarily! Diagnose one at a time. Use a meter check for voltage and ground
  7. All hand made! Very nice! I had wondered if you had a bead roller or something to work the edges with.
  8. Yes, Steve just answered that. The car originally had one key. It's 50 years old, The door locks could have been replace, the ignition could have been replaced. all the door locks might not even match. Who knows...

So I got the shifter cap off I tried to just bang it out with the shifter rod against a block but had to make an anvil and hit it with a brass hammer. So now I'm stuck again You can see the shaft seal right here but I can't get it out... It appears to have a brass bushing about 15mm long behind it. I didn't know if I could drive it all out? I tried to use a pick but it's stuck pretty good. Might be nice to replace the bushing if I could find a correct replacement @EuroDat @Dave WM

Here is the old bushing. Original, I believe... No holes
  11. Now that makes more sense

I used mine just the other day on the exact same seal. Took like 5 seconds
  13. Oh, I know but it just seems sort of silly when we already know what the car is pretty much gonna look like
  14. Wayne, I had looked forward to coming this year but I just can't get all the parts pulled together. It's like a conspiracy or something to keep me from going. But I'm gonna get back one way or another!

    Seal removal tool
  16. Ok so I would like a little tutorial on how you fabricated that battery tray! I can do some metal work but that is way beyond me!
  17. They do the car no favors to wrap it like that!!! They would just do better to paint it a great color and run it. It looks super bland in the car camo

    Thanks so much guys
  19. No original early S30s in black. Any black one's you see are repaints. Is he married? If he is elicit some help digging through potential paperwork
  20. If he's with the same insurance company, maybe they know. If he's like my dad he kept paperwork going back decades
  21. You really need a vin number to have a chance. You could run it through the national stolen vehicle database and if you know cop you might be able to run a national trace to see if it's registered anywhere
  22. I would leave the thread as it is and not start a new thread. That way the final solution is with the initial symptoms
  23. Some dealers added undercoater. But from the factory everything was supposed to be body color
  24. I would like to go and have been planning towards it but my employee (and my friend) gets married on the 8/21. I also just made a trip to Texas and can't do a longer trip than that until I heal up some more. I wanted to meet some West coast members too!

So we have most of the tranny reassembled. We are working on the cases. I have two O rings for the shifter. One is easy to replace The one on the OD there. But I suspect there is one internally as well. Should I drive out the rear cap that is staked? Also is there any particular way to orient the new Omega bushing? It has a hole but I didn't know if there was a specific orientation because the existing one didn't have a hole @EuroDat
