Become a Porsche Guy?
Hi @rdefabri. Yes, @Arne is still around but he sold his Z, to a club member in Norway, and purchased a Porsche. He's still an admin on the site and still an important part of our community. And, yes I am still around! I haven't sold out or given up on this place. I'm hoping the club will outlast my lifetime.

Hauling a Z on a trailer
I looked at my straps and @Hardway's photo as well. It looks like the ratchet tie down on the U-Haul can be adjusted side to side. See photos. If you rent one of these trailers, definitely check this out before you take a trip. Mine worked out fine, but, it's ideal to have them centered as pointed out by @Captain Obvious.

Am I missing a part? confused.. 79 280zx e-brake issue
He didn't supply this part with the sale? It seems a bit fishy to me. Keep us updated about your experience because I have a feeling the brake probably doesn't work or it's seized up. There should be no reason why someone removes it otherwise. Good news is you should be able to find these parts. Mike Sent from my iPad using Classic Zcar Club mobile

- Bad customer service for parts
Sorry you're having trouble. But, your safest bet is to buy from our recommended suppliers. We have partnered with companies (people) who stand behind their products and have excellent customer service. All of them are regular users on this site as well. Hauling a Z on a trailer
Thanks Captain, I just now noticed the ratchets could be slid to the center of the tire! As you pointed out, mine were a bit to the outside. If anyone rents one of these trailers, I highly suggest bringing a can of WD40 to lube up the ratchets. Mine were pretty stiff and (if I had noticed the slide adjustments) it would have been extra difficult to adjust them to center. Not to mention it was 30 degrees in the morning so things were extra stiff. Sent from my iPad using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Am I missing a part? confused.. 79 280zx e-brake issue
Yea, it looks like he removed the linkage connection. He likely removed it because the parking brake was not working or seized up. While you are under the car, squirt some lubricant into the handle to make sure it's working. You may want to see if you can pull on the cable to see if it works. I'd remove the rear hub and also check to see if those are working. By the way, head over to the Downloads area and pick up a copy of the 280zx factory service manual. Check out the BR.PDF file, I found this:

Thanks! The wheels are Boyd's 5-star 15x8. I can't remember the offset, sorry. They will be for sale soon if you are interested! I'm going to purchase new wheels before summer.

Hauling a Z on a trailer
Thanks guys, made it back safe today. Considering we are "between" storms I was able to drive on a nice sunny (but cold) day from Oregon to Washington. If you know anything about the PacNW, we normally get only a few of these sunny days in the winter. Anyway, the Z is put away in the new garage as we wait for a snow storm tomorrow. I'm excited to get started working on a few projects until nicer weather is upon us. I appreciate all the help, it made the journey that much better.

By the way, the straps going into the hatch are just the left over excess from the ratchet tie downs. I'm not actually tying down to the hatch. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hauling a Z on a trailer
Well I have her loaded up and ready to go. I purchased a few things during my visit to u-haul. I picked up a set of differential straps, which I used for the rear cross bracing. I also noticed my existing hitch ball was a bit low so I purchased a new ball and flipped the tongue over to give it a bit more lift. Other than that it all looks pretty good. Check out some pics I took this morning. On the road now and typing this from my rig while I fill up with super unleaded. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hauling a Z on a trailer
Thanks guys! I appreciate the help. I'll leave the cover off and do what I can to put the trailer on a small hill for loading. I am picking her up from my storage unit so most of the place is flat. If I have a problem I can probably grab my big jack for the truck and lift up the rear end (if I have clearance problems). @jfa.series1 and @siteunseen, since you have experience with the U-Haul trailers, do you have any advice on securing the rear end of the Z when it's mounted on the trailer? I noticed the U-Haul trailer is open in the center so I'm assuming there are going to be mount points where I can use some ratchet straps. I found something called an axle strap on the Internet, I may look for a set of these for the rear end. I also found this photo of a possible mounting solution underneath the U-Haul trailer. I am glad to see they have D-hooks on the center part of the trailer. Just not sure where to mount these on the Z. We will see when I get there. As far as the tow rig, I'll be using my Lexus (Landcruiser) 100 series. Here's a link to my garage with some details about the rig. http://www.classiczcars.com/garage/vehicle/1858-lexus-lx470/ I will also take some photos of the solution when I get the car mounted. Mike
