  2. Like a pseudo tunnel ram. Use four! https://help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5266/~/what-is-a-tunnel-ram%3F
  3. Did you ever get pressure through the MC bleed valves, maybe with a more vigorous pedal pump? That's the starting point. No pressure there, no pressure anywhere.
  4. Race car 240Z. Are welded diffs a good thing for a track car? Is the middle of a pandemic a good time to sell a race car? Discuss... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-143/
  5. Just saw some stuff over on Hybridz about transmissions and found this site. Derek is a member here, he builds good stuff. He made his own cylinder head, among other things. https://www.godzillaraceworks.com/drivetrain If you decide that you'd rather buy a swap in kit form this would be much preferable over the other guy's. Newer stronger transmission and most likely better overall product quality, and probably backed up if there are problems. I don't know if Derek is involved in this one but he is with the adapters. @Derek https://www.godzillaraceworks.com/drivetrain/complete-240sx-5-speed-swap-kit-for-70-83-datsun-z-car And here is Derek's business - http://datsunworks.com/
  6. Here are the bullet points from the Senate report. "The FAA continues to retaliate"... Why would they do that? https://www.commerce.senate.gov/2020/12/wicker-releases-committee-s-faa-investigation-report Some of the report’s more significant findings include: FAA senior managers have not been held accountable for failure to develop and deliver adequate training in flight standards, despite repeated findings of deficiencies over several decades. The FAA continues to retaliate against whistleblowers instead of welcoming their disclosures in the interest of safety. The Department of Transportation Office of General Counsel (DOT OGC) failed to produce relevant documents requested by Chairman Wicker as required by Article I, Section I of the Constitution. The FAA repeatedly permitted Southwest Airlines to continue operating dozens of aircraft in an unknown airworthiness condition for several years. These flights put millions of passengers at risk. During 737 MAX recertification testing, Boeing inappropriately influenced FAA human factor simulator testing of pilot reaction times involving a Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) failure. FAA senior leaders may have obstructed a DOT OIG review of the 737 MAX crashes.
  7. And, of course, the coverup almost always exposes the guilty parties. Sorry, I wish it wasn't true. But in my field, we have to believe what the facts tell us. https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/18/22189609/faa-boeing-737-max-senate-report-coverup-tests-whistleblowers Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) worked together to manipulate 737 Max recertification tests following two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019, according to a damning new Senate report. Boeing “inappropriately coached” some FAA test pilots to reach a desired outcome during the recertification tests, and some were even performed on simulators that weren’t equipped to re-create the same conditions as the crashes.
  8. You kind of helped my point at the end. The FAA is certainly worse now, more hollowed out and focused on profits for the businesses than safety. That's what the Executive Orders were about, less regulation = more profits. This has happened across all of the "watchdog" agencies, including the intelligence agencies. So, what could be and what is are two very different things. I will avoid the Max if I can, even after the supposed fixes. It was clear from the various reports that even the pilots, like yourself, were kept in the dark about the truth. There's no reason to believe that things are different now. We can all hope, but belief would be long stretch.
  9. No offense AV8 but here is a famous American carrier accident. My point is that "management" will always be looking for ways to cut costs, and many managers are fine with taking chances with other people's safety. https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/28/us/space-shuttle-challenger-34-years-scn-trnd/index.html
  10. I think a reasonable person would wonder why the President of the United States needs to draft Executive Orders concerning regulation of the industry. Overall, there are signs that the urge to let industries self-regulate leads to monetization of safety. From a business perspective it might be cheaper to pay the court costs and settlements than to assure the safety of an aircraft. Business is about return on investment, nothing more. https://www.forbes.com/sites/marisagarcia/2019/03/18/did-trump-executive-orders-further-weaken-faa-oversight/?sh=97b1a353ca78 Pay the money, move on and make more. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-ethiopia-airplane-victims/boeing-to-pay-737-max-crash-victims-families-144500-each-idUSKBN1W8288

Not sure what you're saying. Have you given in? "F___ it, I'm not wearing a mask". ? The current President of the United States lost his relevance years ago. He doesn't matter. Not sure why you're talking about him. My point was about role models.

But look at this. The Dream Foundation. COVID-19 relief. Makes him look even dumber. Instead of "now there's a guy who knows what's going on and is doing something about, and setting an example", you think "what an idiot". People will see him and do what he does because he's Drew Brees. He'll spawn a whole following of idiot nose breathers. https://drewbrees.com/ Drew and Brittany Brees have personally committed $5 million to the State of Louisiana for relief efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Your donation will be in addition to this commitment. Relief efforts are serving: Children Hospitals and healthcare workers Seniors Families Law Enforcement Daycare Staff

Drew Brees seems like one of the more intelligent quarterbacks around and even he doesn't know how to wear a face covering, apparently. Can't figure out if these guys really are just dumb or if they know better and are making some sort of statement. Just some weird weird stuff going on in the world today.
  15. Not the kit, but the guy that owns the store, he's been around for quite a while. He used to be Datsun Parts LLC. You can search that on the internet. His new name comes up on the site occasionally, I added a search link below.. His screen name on the forum is URGELIS. https://www.classiczcars.com/profile/13357-urgelis/ https://www.classiczcars.com/search/?&q="california datsun"&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy
  16. The Body chapter has tramming info that might help.
  17. How early is the VIN? Is the car going to be worth anything with these oddities? Don't forget the steering gear, which is attached to the wheels. Good luck!
  18. The early VIN Z's had the set-forward diff, with a different, shorter, propeller shaft. Could that be the issue?
  19. Browse over this page on BAT and you can see, pretty much just by looking at the pictures and prices, that deleting the big bumpers doesn't add much. Maybe even hurts. If you're planning to put it back on BAT in the future, and make a profit, best do what the actual buyers will pay for. You can even read through the comments on a typical BAT auction and see that most of the comments come from people who aren't buying. Your car is very original and in great shape, by the pictures. The cars that make the money are either the original cars or the heavily, professional level, modified cars. There are many half-done cars that don't do well at all. Make sure you know what you want the final product to look like and that you can actually get it done. It would be a shame to ruin a nice car like yours. https://bringatrailer.com/datsun/280z/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z-48/
  20. Delete all of that. What are you looking at? Page 132? Just go to page 20 of the EFEC chapter. 1982.

Here's an America story. A guy who thinks he might have COVID gets on a plane back to LA from Disney World, lies on the airline's COVID questionnaire about his symptoms, then dies on the flight. He either got it in Disney World or had it before he got there. This is why it's just not safe to travel. https://www.scarymommy.com/covid-19-death-flight/?utm_source=yahoo&utm_campaign=feed The plane, which was scheduled to fly from Orlando to Los Angeles, made an unscheduled landing in New Orleans after a man on the flight suffered a cardiac arrest. While first responders tended to the man, flight crew members overheard his wife telling the healthcare workers that her husband had been experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19. However, she and her husband had not disclosed the symptoms — which included the loss of taste and smell — prior to boarding the flight, according to the Times report.

These pictures just seem to follow properly. No offense to the English forum members. I'll try to find some rally pictures to balance things out.
  24. Hey, you bought Slimeydime's car! If you bought it for collecting/investing/future resale the best you could do would be to live on the BAT board and see what the collector's critique is on similar cars that come up for sale. One thing that stands out in the pictures is the lack of detailing in the engine bay. The paint on that car is so bright, and the interior so clean, that the brown valve cover and other parts really stands out. Not in a good way. The engine bay looks filthy. No offense to Slimeydime, he probably used it as a driver. One thing that really stands out a good way on your car is the rubber (bumper ends) and vinyl, and the dash. Those parts are typically destroyed by sun and age. Take extra care of those parts, they make the difference, you can't find replacements.
