Rear control arms
There won't be any difficulties that don't already exist. Be careful not to mushroom the pins that connect the vertical to the horizontal. You can get replacements but try not to damage them when removing or inserting. Use lots of heavy grease when re-inserting. I guess by the fact that you are having them sandblasted you also plan to have them powdercoated. A knowledgeable shop will let you know if you have any structural problems. You're almost there it sounds like.

Repair/restore shop ?
I lived in Ventura for about 3 years and worked with a guy in Moorpark and another guy there in Ventura. The guy in Ventura was about 1.5 miles east or south (depending on how you look at it) of Seward Avenue. The shop in Moorpark is right of the main drag through town. I had a harmonic balancer replaced by the shop in Ventura and the guy did a great job. Both of these repairs were back in the early 90's so good luck with them still being in business. I have to be honest most shops don't want to take on someone else's mistakes. That's just the way it is. If you can find someone I hope your pockets are deep. Z Experts in Venice will put it back together for you but as I said I hope you have deep pockets. Richard Kuebler is the owner so I suggest you go down and talk to him. His shop is located on Lincoln Avenue. It will be worth the price of a flatbed ride. Good Luck!

Fuel Tank Removal "How To"
ARGNIEST It sounds like your biggest concern is re-installation. If that is the case take tie on tags and mark all the connections as you undo them, either A,B,C,D,etc or 1,2,3,4,etc. When you get the new hose which won't be much lengthwise re-attach those before re-installing the tank. The marking method is a can't wise technique. It's not always practical to have a service manual or pictures next to you when you are on your back with tons of road crap falling in your face. In additon to wearing goggles KEEP YOUR MOUTH CLOSED. I would also suggest installing a fuel filter between the tank and the pump if possible. Solid material will also cause a fuel pump to fail.

One more timing chain question
YELLOW Ditto what Sam said. The fact that you sound a little unsure reinforces not attempting this procedure without the expertise to get it right. Indeed verify where the leak is coming from. If it needs a new head gasket I would find a good Z mechanic who will let you watch, take notes, and possibly let you assist. Thus the expertise will be gained. Even using a detailed manual there is no replacement for expertise. Some procedures explained in repair manuals assume that the person executing the procedure has more than enough expertise thus obvious steps may not be explained in detail. Good Luck!

Why do 240Z Owners So Often Put L28s in their cars?
Jenny To each his own. I personally wouldn't install a V8 conversion. With an L28 having just that much more meat on the cylinder walls they can be bored out to a 3.2 and have good manners in traffic when tuned well. 3.2 litres and 300+ HP is more than enough for these nimble machines. But that is just my Humble opinion. As somene said previously even if it is possible to bore a 2.4 out it's shelf life wouldn't be very long due to the heat it would generate. Very few 240Z owners even care about matching numbers and all that jazz. Most of them would trade numbers for power. If you restore one of these rigs to sell it on you are making a mistake. Even if you get what you paid for the parts you will never recover what it cost in man hours which could well exceed 2000 hours.

time for new clutch
I hope you replaced the clutch slave cylinder or any other component that may have looked a little moist.

Datsun Scrapyard In Southern California? 1st Z needs a roof!
The Infinty swap does look sweet but I'm not sure the cost would be justified. The STR8 6 can be modified for more than enough power. But that's just my humble opinion. Check Redondo Beach Z World they might have a roof for you. I bought the car in my AVATAR from them in 1994. Good Luck.

Clock repair for Z's
I have looked at Ron's site before he had hosting issues and I plan to send mine to him.I would really love to install a rallye clock but you have to send him a core. I have my dashboard removed currently so when it does go back in the install should be a piece of cake, I really don't see a way to get it out or in unless the dash is removed. If anyone needs a core I have at least 3 clocks so let me know.

Hey Everyone
KIILEZ 1K is not a bad asking price for the red on. Unless you find one that is running which probably will be at a lot higher price than you are willing to pay the price cannot be beat. If you are willing to restore a project you can't do much better. The lime green one should be seen up close first. The pics don't reveal much. Good Luck!

How to take of the dash? (10 points!)
ABUCKINFUFFALO We are all on your side. First read the service manual as advised. Second get two containers, one for the fasteners on the right side and then another for the fasteners on the left side. Third mark all the harness connectors (both male and female ends) with a magic marker as you undo them, either A,B,C,D,etc or 1,2,3,4,5,etc. It should take no longer than 45 minutes to get the dashboard out. If your car is equipped with A/C there could be some unseen fasteners. Take your time it is a finess job. Also as a word of advice take the steering wheel out first. The last thng to disconnect should be the speedo cable. The dashboard will rest nicely on the steering column until all the fasteners are undone. Don't be in a hurry!

Hatch Hinge Question
TLORBER It might be a better idea to try and locate a hatch that has not been molested. Search the hatch archives on this site and try to find some suppliers. By all means try to go and have a look at the replacement hatch before you by it. There used to be a shop on the PCH in Redondo Beach named Redondo Beach Z World when I lived in Los Angeles back in the 90's. If he is still open he might have a good hatch. I bought the complete car to the left from him. Good Luck!

Nissan 240Z Restoration Program Article
Very good article Mike. I think I have a newspaper article of when this veture was initially undetaken complete with a dismantled photo. I will see if I can get the local camera shop to copy and convert it into a digital image. Also search the archives in the Florida Today newspaper from around that year. If I find it I will post it.

Recommended Paint
Yeah Mike Powder coating is the way to go. After that any paint will be secondary to the powder coat. If you are interested in getting a sandblaster Harbor Freight has them reasonably priced. I'm in the middle of sandblasting Project 3/72. It's dirty work but you cannot beat the reults.

72' 240z Sunroof ideas?
If you know someone who is good with an English Wheel he would be able to make it look like the factory piece. It could be quite pricey. Using one of those is a true art but it will look as if it was never touched. Good Luck

Replace Floorpans
Thanks to both of you. Project 3/72 will need floors as well so I will pay close attention to all floor pan threads. Also undergoing full restoration. Currently sandblasting the HELL out of it!

Your Z Body Roots
When project 3/72 turns a wheel it will look nearly like it did when it was in the showroom. Tinted headlamp covers though. No spoilers or any other glue on bits. All the muscle will be underneath. Oh yeah Sebring mirrors. They look sweet
